Royal Playa Del Carmen 2014

Hey ladies! I'm getting married at the royal playa del Carmen this coming June (so soon!!). I just wanted to share that I am using Flores riviera maya for my flowers. They were recommended to me by another bride and I have been very pleased. I ordered bridesmaid bouquets and they were half the price ($35) of what they were charging at the resort. I sent her a pic of what I wanted so that they will match my bouquet since I'm getting it through the resort. They are delivering outside the resort the day of the wedding so I won't have to pay a Vendor fee. Here is the website If anyone wants to check them out. Alina is pretty quick to respond to email and is very helpful. Hope this helps! http://www.floresrivieramaya.com/eng/

I didn't look into any other places, mainly because I like that I can just have the wedding coordinator at the resort do most of the stuff for the reception.

Jessica, my wedding is on valentine's day. I think I will get my flowers from Marvin as well. Are you using the photographer from the resort?

I'm not going with the resort photographer because when I looked at their pictures I didn't really like them- I am going with my photographer friend's friend- I'm avoiding the resort fee bc she will stay a night there and she doesn't do it as her official occupation. I posted above a link for the girl that I wish I could have do my pics but she can't- you should check her out though if you are looking for a photographer!! It's www.bam-fam.com

Photos on the website are beautiful! I think I am going with Del Sol. I fell in love with their work but they are other pretty amazing ones in the area. What about videographer? I am still undecided. Since I am getting the classic wedding package the video is not included.

Safety - I'd love to hear more about the vendors you are using and please tell me about your food choices! Did you do a site visit?  I'm not, so just curious to hear from someone who has tried the food! Thanks so much for the Florist info!

Gia - Congrats! So excited to have another February bride on here!!

Hi there!

I was lucky enough to meet another bride on here that got married at the Royal in January and had the same wedding colors as me so she's made my planning much simpler!   As I mentioned, I am getting my bridesmaid bouquets through Flores Riviera Maya and my bouquet through the resort.  My package also comes with a bout so I will get that but I think for everyone else I am doing starfish bouts.

I'm getting my hair and make-up done at the spa at the resort and doing a hair trial the day before.  I am planning to take my wedding party girls to get massages on the beach. I have heard they are MUCH cheaper than the resort ($25 hr compared to like $70 at the resort).  I actually have reservations at Veronica's on 5th for massages which has rave reviews on TripAdvisor.

As for food, I haven't picked the menu yet but I'll let you know as soon as I do.  It's the most difficult decision for me!  For the cake I am doing a simple cake design that I sent them and taking a cake topper and plan to decorate it with a a couple fresh lilies.  I chose Tres Leches as the flavor based on other reviews.

We will about 30 people so it is on the smaller side.   We are doing the ceremony at the gazebo, cocktail hour on the patio and the reception either on gazebo garden or beach by gazebo.

That's the basics for now. Feel free to ask questions.  My off site coordinator is Mariana and she has been pretty good to work with. I haven't got assigned my on-site coordinator yet but should soon.  I'll be sure take lots of notes and pictures while I'm there and report back. I did not do a site visit so I am trusting the advice and suggestions of other brides!

Menu is a big one for me too! Probably will end up choosing beef and chicken. For the cake I am going for the tres leches as well.

Thank you, yes! It seems so far away but it's getting closer and closer. How many guests are you having?

Is anybody hiring a videographer? I wasn't considering it until recently?

And music? Playlist, Trio, DJ??

Gia and Safety-I have seen a lot of pictures by Del Sol and they look so pretty! I'm sure that your guys' pictures will turn out great! I was thinking about the menu too- my fiance and I are going to try to decide that this week- I'm thinking a seafood and a beef.. not sure though.

Gia- we hired DJ Ivan of Doreemixx- I haven't seen a single bad review about him- or anyone else from Doreemixx - plus you don' t have to pay an outside vendor if you go with them. I don't know what to do about a videographer- I would really love to have a good one- they are just so expensive! I was considering doing that weddingflick thing where you hand out cameras to people and they can record stuff, then you send them back to the company and they edit it... I'm just not sure how the quality of that would be either.... A trio comes with my package- so I am using that during my cocktail hour!!!

Safety- are they charging you a fee for sending in your own cake design??

When are you guys having your guests RSVP by? I don't know how long is too far in advanced... but I would like to be able to start putting together welcome bags and know how much to expect to pay! haha!
