June 2013 brides- what are you doing?

Recommended Posts

So wondering what you ladies have decided on for mother gifts.

I purchased my mom and MIL both a watercolor painting that has a special meaning behind it. They are gorgeous but they are 8x10 and my FI doesnt want me to bring them down framed because they could get damaged, but if I just bring the prints then they could get damaged as well...and honestly without the frame they kind of look like an unfinished gift to me. SO now im thinking I will send it to each of them for Mothers Day instead and let them know I was planning on giving it to them at the wedding, but didnt want it to get ruined or have them have more to bring back.

BUT NOW I still really want to get them something special for down there. I have them hankies, but was wanting a little something more...I saw some Mother of the Tumblers that might be cute for our resort, but I did purchase everyone a stein as well so dont know if that is overkill or what.

Basically any ideas from you super awesome creative ladies!

BTW I was just thinking how awesome it is going to be to share pictures of our weddings with each other in less than two months!! I feel like it will be so much fun seeing everything come together for us all!

I'm sitting here trying to figure this out too! Our families are so different (think city vs country) that I don't know what to get...then I need to get something for his grandma too and just so we don't cause any hurt feelings we need to get his step mom something too even though she never actually raised him...so I have no clue! We bought the dad's and grandpa some Jon Hart personalized goodies...and now I'm stuck for the ladies. I was thinking something easy to pack like jewelry, but I don't know if they'll wear it and I can't afford to waste money like that! Lol

Question for you ladies...we finally got the grooms and groomsmen their outfits this weekend, white long sleeved linen shirt with tie for the groom and short sleeved white line shirt for the men (no tie) they're all wearing these pants http://www1.macys.com/shop/product/inc-international-concepts-pants-albert-linen-pants?ID=810402&CategoryID=89&LinkType=#fn=BRAND%3DINC%20International%20Concepts%26sp%3D1%26spc%3D25%26ruleId%3D13%26slotId%3D8 My question if about the dads...what are your fathers/stepfathers and soon to be FIL's wearing?? I know they can wear whatever but traditionally...do they dress like the groomsmen, or should they wear a tie (maybe different but similar to the grooms?). Should I have them wear gray pants also? I'm more thinking how will the formal pictures look...

oh goodness i didnt even think to get something for the dads. I dont think we will because both our dads are pretty hard to buy for and I dont want to just waste money like you said. I agree on the jewelry. Everything I am seeing is something I wouldnt want to wear. I think I might just do the personalized hankies with the Mother of The tumblers. Going to look again tonight and decide tomorrow cause I am so ready for all the ordering to be over! Me and my postal lady are BFF's now haha!

That sounds so pretty! We def want to order 5x7's of a few wedding photos for both sets of parents once they are done and in our possession. When I told my FI that i was just going to send them the gift for mothers day and get a smaller something to bring he was like "Now we are getting them two gifts!!??" hahah...whatever. Then I asked him if we were giving each other gifts the day of and his head about flew off hahaha. SO i think he is over me asking about gift ideas!

My mom loves jewelry from Na Hoku. It's all Hawaiian jewelry but has an island flavor that would be great for any destination wedding. If we end up getting our parents something besides the photobook I'd probably get my mom, MIL something like a necklace from there

My stepdad is walking me down the aisle with my mom. I told him he could wear whatever he wanted. (Our groomsmen will be in gray with white shirts and peach ties). His go to is khaki, but my mom is pressing him to get gray pants and he will probably wear a short sleeved white shirt just cause he hates being hot. Now my FI's dad I have NO IDEA! In the 15 years I have known him I have never, ever, seen him in anything but jeans, tshirt and tennis shoes with a flannel. So we will see. I dont care either way. Not anything I am worried about, just glad they are making the trek!

Natalie, my fiancé looked at me like I had 10 heads when I had asked him about gifts for each other the day of! I think I might just get him a card from here http://www.notonthehighstreet.com/rubywren/product/personalised-days-i-ve-loved-you-card and maybe a tie clip since every time he wears a tie (which is basically just at weddings and funerals!) he mentions that he needs to get one but I know it's not something he'll ever buy himself. I'm also thinking grey pants and white button downs like the groomsmen for the dads, nothing fancy since they're both also very much jeans and T's dads

What a cute card! Yeah I think i will still get him a little tiny something meaningful. I was thinking of getting his band engraved, but Im sure that would not end up being a surprise. Would love to do one of those boudior shoots but I am kind of shy and also feel like I am so dang busy until we leave!! Oh well! I will figure it out. Still just working on the mamas.
