June 2013 brides- what are you doing?

Recommended Posts

Stina- The server isn't working correctly so I can't quote your question, but yes- we are doing the whole legal she-bang with the blood work and everything. Our intent was to just have the one ceremony on the beach and have it be legal, but bc it is legal, there is this awful official script they have to use and I was originally told it could be altered a little to my liking, but that wasn't true. The compromise we came up with is that we will have the legal one with the judge and my witnesses in the wedding office in the morning and then the "symbolic" but "real" ceremony in my mind, in front of the guests on the beach that evening with a minister.
Gotcha! Well thought out. I wish we could have a friend do the legal thing that morning but instead we're going to the courthouse May 1st to do the legal paper signing but won't kiss or exchange rings...It's my parent's anniversary so we figured that'd be their gift and then hopefully that'll always been their day in my head and June 15th will always be Bill's and mine. Wish we could just do it the day of or after but it won't work.

Great on on your script Meggam, I'm jealous that yours is done. I wish someone would just write my ceremony script for me...I've be working on it and tweaking parts here and there but it is definitely not one of my fave parts of wedding planning. Part of me wants to just let the officiant say whatever and part of me wants it to be more personal/meaningful. Meggam quick question for you...I sent you an email last week to your personal email just as a follow up to something, did you by chance get it?

We are doing our legal wedding 6 days before our Mexico wedding.  Do you think that doing the legal portion ahead of time will take away from June 15?

We are planning to kiss and do the ring exchange and all that jazz.  We have a friend marrying us and the people who will be in attendance will also be in Mexico.  We are keeping is as a casual bbq.  We are excited to do both weddings, in fact, Fi wants to wear his wedding band now.  :)

Just wondering how many other brides think doing the legal portion ahead of time will take away from the DW one.  We are super excited for both.  :)

I think that sounds great!! It sounds like its sill an "event" so I think that sounds so nice! I just didn't want the for real date on our marriage certificate to be a day that we just ran down to the courthouse randomly. I am totally not against other ppl doing this, I am just a little overly sentimental. I also like that the people at yours will also be on MX! :)

I know what you mean! It was a daunting task. I think bc I'm overly sentimental I felt/feel like it needs to be just right! My FI is totally supportive and understands that's just the way I am, but he is also re-assuring me that hardly anyone will really even remember what was said, etc. I'm just glad it's done and I'm not looking at it again bc every time I do I keep changing things!! I just responded to your email :)

We are keeping it super small, just my parents and family friends who are traveling from New Zealand/Australia for the Mexico wedding.  We weren't too keen on having our blood drawn and were not going to meet the 4 day requirement to be there 4 days before the wedding with our work schedules.

Plus, this gives us the opportunity to have friends officiate.  One of our friends who is a lawyer became ordained in CA to marry us and we are having a friend officiate the Mexico ceremony.

Plus this way I get 4 gifts in June.  :P  Our anniversary, June 8, June 14 weddings and birthday.  Need to get Fi on board with this plan.  :D

Has anyone used Amols for maracas?

We received our shipment last night and 11/15 pairs of the pink were pretty dinged up and 8/15 pairs of orange the same way.

I sent an e-mail to the sales department as I was instructed when I called this morning asking for replacements.  Anyone have the same issue?
