June 2013 brides- what are you doing?

Recommended Posts

Hi ladies!  What are your weekend itineraries looking like?  Have you posted your itinerary on your websites yet?  I'm thinking I need to do this before I send out invites so that people have the info to decide how long to stay, when to arrive, etc.  Mine is still a work in progress but here is what I'm thinking.  Keep in mind we are NOT doing an all-inclusive resort.

Wed- Welcome Cocktail Hour @ resort (we will have booze and appetizers)

Thursday- Wedding

Friday- Beach party at a local beach bar (this is an optional event, I'm just going to say this is where we will be if people want to join us)

Saturday- people are on their own (I will provide info on tours and various activities)

Do I have enough stuff planned?

I think that sounds like a nice plan!  We're not all inclusive either, and most people will only be coming for a long weekend.  Here's our schedule, and I did post it on our website.  I'm also sending out a pretravel brochure that has an itinerary.

Fri - happy hour on the beach (we're having bartenders come in with a bar and make drinks in fresh coconuts and local beer), then a bus will pick everyone up and take us all to the rehearsal dinner.

Sat - wedding and reception

Sun - champagne brunch

And I also put ideas for activities on our website and brochure.  There's no way we could have added another event - besides the fact that our budget is pretty stretched to the max, I think people enjoy having a little time to themselves!

We don't have anything formal planned besides the actuall wedding although we will probably include some information about informal welcome drinks at the hotel bar one or two nights. We have guest arriving anytime between Saturday and Wednesday for our Thursday wedding with most people leaving on Saturday and we don't want people to feel pressured to do anything they don't want to do. As much as its a celebration for our wedding its also some of our guests only vacation of the year. That being said, those RSVP cards were a great idea!

I think that sounds great! We only have a couple things planned as this is more than likely the only vacation for many of our guests as well. Plus I don't want it to feel busy and overly scheduled. I want to be able to relax and not look at the time. Also, I think my maid of honor is planning a bridal brunch one day so that's another "event" for me. Ours looks like this: -Wed night- "White Out Welcome Party" - a welcome dinner where we asked everyone to wear their favorite white attire -Thurs- rehearsal dinner for immediate family and wedding party -Fri- wedding with private cocktail hour and reception -Sat- Farewell Brunch Everything except the brunch is a "private event" and since we are also trying to watch our budget the brunch will really just be casual and more of a "try to all sit in the same area at one specific restaurant" if that makes sense. We MIGHT make the brunch private but as of now we aren't. I didn't want to "over plan" so that's why we aren't planning group excursions or anything like that.

All the planning you ladies have done sounds great!! I especially love the RSVP on the invites! Such a great idea, but too late for me haha! Im using my wedding website to get guests to RSVP to the excursions/events planned.

We are at an all inclusive though and I am also working with an amazing company that runs excursions- he basically had me just highlight a few of the excursions i thought some guests would want to do and then have  aplanned day where they could sign up for it so that if a number of guests do feel like doing a certain one they can do it together rather than on separate days. I only have one actual excursion where i hope everyone will attend!

Here is what my working schedule looks like

Sat- guests arrive, Welcome cocktails after dinner (which is really just all meeting in the same place at the same time to enjoy our free drinks!)

Sun- open, enjoy the resort day!

Mon- afternoon sunset happy hour cruise including snorkeling and a champagne toast during sunset. (THis is the one i hope everyone will go)

Tues- Bach parties at night so open all day unless the guys want to go fishing or golfing

Wed- Ziplining or Dolphin swim or of course hanging at the resort, then that night is a rehearsal dinner for everyone

Thurs- Wedding

Fri- Unsure

Sat- Homebound!

Guests can do whatever they want really, it is up to them. I just wanted to work with this excursion company cause he has way better prices then the hotel and I have heard personally great reviews about his services.  But it isnt expected...like I know my sisters and I want to swim with dolphins, but I can guarantee my uncle does not! haha. So really just hoping everyone will make it their own vacation, but that i wouldnt be slacking on things to do for us together!

Y'all are inspiring me to be more pro-active in arranging an excursion! I was thinking the Sunday after the wedding (Saturday night) because some guests leave on Monday but I'm not sure what state of fragility everyone will be in from the wedding so I don't know if it would be a waste...hmmmm...any thoughts? Just make it optional? But then I'll feel awful if nobody shows up. Or maybe arrange the dolphin swims for that day? And a fishing excursion for the men who wanted to go? Just stinks cuz then I know my future husband would want to do that and I'd really love to spend our first day married doing something together (sea sick on a deep sea fishing boat doesn't sound like the way I want to spend the first day of the rest of our lives! Lol).

I have on my list to work on a timeline for weekend.

This is what we were thinking high level.

Thursday - Guests are arriving, so probably a meet and greet in one of the bars at the resort after dinner so we can pass out welcome bags

Friday - Open all day, wedding at 5:00

Saturday - Open and hang with guests

Sunday - travel home

We are not doing a wedding week, just a weekend and we fly home Sunday too.
