wow! Yeah poor girl sounds about right. I know that some things always go wrong on the wedding day but I'm hoping for minor things. Your friend's sister had awful luck (or good luck in case of the dress not being burned). My mom told me that the lady who made her dress decided to dye her hair while they were doing the final fitting, a few days before the wedding, and she stained one of the sleeves with hair dye! I would be freaking out.

I'd also be livid. I agree it's possible something will go wrong but let's all cross our fingers it will be minor!

My dress fits pretty awesome too minus the length. So alterations should be minimal once I get back from my holiday bender and lose 5 lbs hehe

Mine has quite a bit to get done. Aside from hemming they need to let out like half an inch at the hips and adding a corset back to it. I'm actually kind of worried about how much it will be. The lady that sold me the dress said that it would be around $200 but I'm hoping that's true and she didn't just say that to make a sale

I'd hope that give/take she'd be close. But I guess it depends what her experience is with it?! At David's bridal they have alterations look at your dress. Unfortunately they were so busy they didn't see me it in but did quote the hemming. I still plan to shop around -- that one in the south I've mentioned peaks my interest. I have come to believe any associated with a bridal store will cost more. I love the corset look. Never even thought of it until this board.

So I tried on dresses today at blissful bridal. Very nice people there! I worked with Alison who was a doll and didn't rush us at all. We were there for almost 2 hours and she was great! I tried on a bunch of dresses... Confirmed that the Vera wang Gemma is my ceremony dress based on the silhouettes that I tried (they don't carry her dresses but I tried in a similar style)... And will order that one through Jasmines in blush. I did find my reception dress though! It was $899 and perfect! Not lace like I thought id choose- but organza and layered with rouching, will go back with my BMs to show them before ordering.

This is what I'm paranoid about, my mom bought the dress and wants me to keep it at the store but I'm terrified something bad will happen to it there!! I'm in Florida, so I'm just sure that I will have to drive through a hurricane to get my dress before the store blows away, but I think it's covered by their insurance when it's there, I need to call about that!
