Wedding Dress Prices?

Recommended Posts

@@acw271011 thanks! I was shocked about the price because of all the beading and all the work on it, so definitely shop around. I live in Canada too, in Calgary, which is even more expensive than Toronto. Maybe try smaller stores. That's where I found mine. The larger stores I went to weren't showing me much for my budget :(

What store????? I'm dying to know! Last time around I bought a Maggie and it still cost me almost $4500! This time I'm going to go replica overseas... Unless I find a deal like yours for the reception dress!!!!

@@kmk2016 go to Blissful Bridal. It's right by Cactus Club on MacLeod, in the same little shopping strip. They have a ton of really nice dresses and their prices are unbelievable. I went there on a Saturday without an appointment. I waited about 15 min until a room became available. We looked around during that time and pulled out the dresses I wanted to try on. The lady there (the owner) was super nice with me and she was actually the one that found me that dress! I was looking into very different ones. They cleaned the dress for me for free because it was a sample and it was ready within two weeks. I have it home already :). I'll go back there for alterations when I'm closer to the date.

One of my best friends also got her dress there when she got married a couple of years ago. That's how I found out about it.

OMG!! $4500 for a Maggie Sottero??????? Darn. I'm in BIG trouble!!! If hers are that expensive, I'm looking at a couple of hers, plus Mori Lee and a few David Tutera for Mon Cheri, which I absolutely am in LOVE with!!!!! I want colour. I don't want whtie because it's a renewal. Ivory is ok. But I would rather have a light gold or champagne, or a blush pink or an ice blue. David Tutera has some fabulous ones but I'm scared to death what they're going to cost!!!!!!!

yup... I think that included my alterations, but still... my dad (Who helped with my first wedding) near fell off the chair! That's why I am going the Custom Inspiration avenue this time around. Going with a blush Vera Wang Gemma. Then depending on what i can find in a fitted lace dress that doesnt require a bustle that I can wear for the reception, I will either buy locally- or purchase that one online as well.

@@acw271011 - Most of the Maggies I saw were under 2000 in Toronto. I tried on some at Ritche and Beckers, including 2 blush pink ones.

Also you should sign up for email lists because some stores have trunk shows or other discounts where you can save 10% or so :)

My budget was $2000 for a dress and I ended up buying a sample dress for under that! Luckily my best friend's mom is a dress maker and she is going to do all my alterations for me! My mom bought my dress for me, and the budget was firm. But she wants me to have a reception dress and I had to buy a Chinese dress for our engagement party too - so it will all add up to about $2200 I think

@@kmk2016 - I can't wait to see how your Gemma turns out. I've been reading the weddingbee jasmine thread and the Gemmas look amazing! I love blush dresses

What's this????? What is weddingbee??? I know about Jasmine's. I've read their site and actually found 2 of the dresses that I've been ogling online. I was sort of trying to wait and see if someone had good success with them making a dress that's got a lot of details. What are Gemmas???? Sorry - it's called old (with some stupidity thrown in!)

Weddingbee.com is another forum... the girls there are sometimes snarky (Not the wonderful environment as here), but they are active and have a VERY active thread on Jasmines Bridal where many brides share their mid-production and final product dresses and review their experiences as well as experiences from a few other vendors. It's worth lurking if you are thinking of going that route. As for "Gemma" it is one of the dresses in Vera Wang's classic collection... and Jasmines is considered a true expert and creating inspiration dresses off this design- in fact many (Including myself) like their version better than the original!

Wow! How come I haven't heard of that site?? Don't think I like snarky... lol But I would definitely be curious about the reviews so might do some lurking.... You're right about thsi site. I think this is one of the best sites I've ever been on!

So now I'll have to take a look at this dress line.... I better not find something I fall in love with.... lol Actually, strangely enough Vera Wang is not a line that I've found much that does it for me. I find she's a bit on the funky side for somebody my age. Great for young people like you ladies.

I would love to have the nerve to order one of the dresses that I love from one of these sites and just see how it turns out...... I have been giving it a lot of thought....  maybe in the fall when I'm stuck at home I'll look into it more.

Haha yes. Weddingbee is a whole different world. I read some threads and lurk sometimes, but it's a bit catty/crazy sometimes. Also, I find destination weddings are very particular, so I'm very grateful to have found this forum where everyone is so helpful! I think my FI is happy too because it means he has to hear less wedding chatter from me :P

@@acw271011 - Have you finalized your dress choice yet?

@@kmk2016 - I'm going w/ Cara Bridal for my replica but I haven't ordered it yet. Will prob do so sometime in July once I get measured properly. I liked her responses better than babydressonline (who never replied to me about sending production pictures)
