Wedding Dress Prices?

Recommended Posts

The dress is definitely the most difficult thing to stay on budget with. I would love to be happy with a beautiful/sexy flowy number that will actually be comfortable to wear all day long in the heat and humidity, and was half the price of my dress, but I tried on one and I knew it just wasn't me. Instead, I will be sweating all day in my gown.

Budget and style on a dress is such a personal choice. You just need to figure out what you are NOT comfortable with (money, style etc.) and go from there. In the end, every bride manages to find their perfect dress no matter how much or how little the cost.

Good Luck!

$425 taxes in, off the rack with no alterations needed except a bustle which I can do myself!!

I love my dress, it's exactly what I wanted simple yet glamorous, and I just keep telling myself that!! It's very easy to get caught up with all the beautiful dresses posted on here, but like I've said before you just have to believe in your choice and stick with your decision...this goes for Men too!! lol Plus I didn't even let anyone put my body in a dress over $1000!!

I started out with a specific style in mind after scouring the internet I found a few designers I like. Now it's time to go try them on. I was watching a whole bunch of wedding shows - Platinum weddings, Say yes to the dress - and all and thought wow! really?! $8k? Thank goodness the ones I found online are reasonably priced. I think there are a whole lotta other things I can do for $8k. That's a good part to the wedding budget.

I started out with a budget of $1500, but wanted to get my dress cheaper if possible. I found two dresses that I loved (One I like the front neckline, and one I liked the back) so I talked to a woman in Houston about making my dress. I even went and met with her for measurements, and she was only charging $750. I started getting nervous about paying for a dress I had never seen or even tried on so I went and tried the two dresses on that I was having her design mine from. I LOVED it on. Then I got home and my sister had emailed me the pictures....they were horrible!!!!

So I began the bridal shop search. Finally I found a dress that I really like for $750., which I was quite happy with but my Mother asked me to go to one more shop. And there I found it. The most flattering dress on me out of all of them. For $399!!!! I paid for half and my mother paid for half....so in all I paid $216 for my dress. I couldn't be happier about that. I will be buying another short flirty dress for the reception.

At first I was hoping to either buy a bridesmaid dress in white, or buy a knockoff dress. So my budget was under 300$. I went to try on dresses, and fell in love with one that was 525$ (before taxes). I was hesitant to buy it, because I wanted to have a knockoff version of it made. The salesperson asked me if it was the price that was keeping me from buying it. Is hould've said yes, she might have taken the taxes off or something. Instead I said no, just afraid of the prices of the alterations. Doh!!

I got a gorgeous Pronovias dress for $900 off the rack. It is a 2009 dress instead of a 2010, so they were needing to get rid of it for the new styles. It is amazing. They are altering it to my size (that isn't included in the $900), but it was originally $1800. Right now while 2010 styles are coming out you may find a great deal on a 2009 dress off the rack!
