Hi all Canadian brides to be (or past brides!)

I am wondering how you guys have made out with finding suits for your men and their groomsmen. My fiancé tried on some suits this weekend (we are planning a wedding for early-ish 2014) at Mexx, etc. and it got me thinking about how others may have found this process!

I was pretty thrilled he wanted to try on stuff so early, love it! ;)

Anyways, how did you guys go about choosing your suits? I found that a lot of the regular stores (e.g. Moores, Tip Top, etc) don't have tons of light colored suits (e.g. beige/light grey) and was wondering about ordering online, etc.

Also, did you ladies have a preference for what color the groom wore? My fiancé was thinking beige/linen color but I know he may change his mind on this. I guess I just wanted to see how other people also went about discussing the whole suit idea!

Hey Mrs.Shoreytobe!

Great question!  There are so many options for menswear for a destination wedding!  We see the sull gamut here: linen shirt/khakis, button down/slacks, w/ and w/out tie, and full suit!  Just make sure he is comfortable with the heat in whatever he is wearing!  Shopping in the spring and early summer is the best time to find linen and light colors (but remember linen does wrinkle easily).  Zara always seems to have some nice options for warm weather.

Below are some ideas from past wedding!

Happy Planning!

Thank u so much! I posted this on another thread and luckily had a few responses there too! We did check Zara and they have such a skinny pant revolution going on lol! My fiancé is black, and I think the light colored suit would be wonderful on him. Plus he loves the heat lol so he was the one who wanted a full suit! Ill definitely let u all know how we make out :):)

Hey ladies! I just wanted to say congratulations on your upcoming weddings! I am a newlywed that lives down here in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. We just got married last week in Tulum! We planned our wedding for just over two years and went through deciding between several all inclusives, and then switched to deciding between different villas in the area, and finally settled on a wedding at a small hotel in Tulum. We had 75 guests and we rented out the entire hotel. I wanted to offer my help and advice to those of you with any questions about the area or advice on planning a wedding down here in general. With planning a wedding in the Mayan Riviera and living in the area for a year and a half, I've picked up quite a bit of knowledge in the process.

Also, if anyone is going for a rustic vintage style wedding but doesn't want to lug all the decorations down here, I can help! It is very hard to find companies down here that rent this style of wedding decor. Believe me, I looked! I have several glass bottles, mason jars, candleholders, burlap & lace table runners, lanterns, bulb lighting, chinese lanterns, vintage books, old suitcases, customizable table numbers and signs, etc that I'm going to be renting out. I know that most of you won't be making these types of decisions just yet, but it's nice to know what your options are, isn't it?

Please send me a PM if you'd be interested in seeing some more photos and pricing of my decor items. My goal is to give great service with fair pricing. In my many months of planning I became very frustrated with the outrageous wedding pricing down here and I want to help fellow brides have their dream wedding (did someone say Pinterest?) without costing them an arm and a leg. Just because you want to have a wedding in paradise doesn't mean you should be charged up the wazoo to do so.

Again, congratulations and happy planning! cheesy.gif

I am getting married at the Iberostar Paraiso Maya in November 2014. I am getting the Dream Package which comes with a private beach dinner. So far I have made my own boarding pass save the dates through a template a found for free online and they turned out great! I have been trying to get quotes from TA and have spoken to two of them already, but they both quoted me very high. I think it may be a little too soon to get good deals considering my wedding is over a year away! It is just so exciting to plan for everything!

Has anyone else booked their resort? Did you have to send a photocopy of your credit card and IDs? I just don't think I feel too comfortable having to do that at Iberostar...

I had a similar problem when I was trying to book my wedding. If you wait until 10-11 months before your wedding to get a quote it will be much more reasonable.

None of the flights or deals for late 2014 have been released yet so its hard for TA's to quote it.

I saved $800 a person by waiting until the actual flights schedule came out. I did book with a TA who went thru Westjet Vacations.

Hey! I sent a photocopy of everything, passports, credit cards, etc to the travel agent who forwarded it to the resort. Then she emailed me a copy of the reciept from the resort. Hope this helps!
