Designer's Under $1,000?

Recommended Posts

Hi ladies! I'm getting prepared to go wedding dress shopping & naturally have been scouring the internet looking for gorgeous dresses. Unfortunately, I seem to have a taste in dresses that far surpass my budget. Do you know of any designers that have dresses under or around $1,000? Before starting this whole process I thought that was a reasonable budget, but it seems like every dress I like is WAY over that price range! Any help would be amazing!

I was going to exactly the same price point as you, and Allure has both gorgeous dresses and reasonable prices. You can check netbride for a price quote, they are reputable and often have the lowest prices. Another idea is to check out once wed or preownedweddingdresses, you can try on your dress at your local salons and then Scour the Internet for a used dress at about half the cost. Some ppl think its bad jojo, I think it's savvy! Good luck :D

Good to know I'm not the only one! Watching "Say Yes To The Dress" right this minute & watching a bride spend 23K on a dress....having a panic attack just thinking about spending that much on a dress ha!  Thanks for the sites, I'm sure I will be up the remainder of the night checking them all out! And I think your idea is super-savy, I have no shame when it comes to saving money!

Well Check out Kelly Dooley in her $34,000 dress! Im telling you, that show is bad news! I used to watch that show before I found my dress, and i would cry! Because I knew I didnt have that much money and I wanted that WOW moment. I finally found my Allure 8815 and my salon had it for 913, it will still need alterations of course, but the dress itself came in under 1,000. Even some of the Maggie's are close to or just above 1,000. Keep us posted:)

oh yeah, I was right there with you girls. Watching them drop $3k and $5k, and then those nutty $20k+++ brides. Uhm, yeah. No need to spend that kind of coin. You can get a beautiful dress at pretty much ANY price point, you just have to shop around and watch for sales too. The new designs are coming out so some salons are discounting their samples - you can usually get a great dress at a sample sale for a steal.

Don't feel discouraged or panic - be up front about your budget when you go shopping and just have fun with it!!

I definitely agree with Tulumbride, oncewed, preownedweddingdresses and recycledbride are all great resource.  I would even estimate that a third of the dresses are samples from bridal salons trying to rotate their inventory or new dresses from brides whose weddings were either canceled or purchased two dresses and now have to get rid of one.  A few designers that come to mind in addition to those already listed above and that are +/- 1K... Essence of Austrailia, Mori Lee, Casablanca, Wtoo, Impressions, Moonlight and Bonny.

Happy hunting and enjoy the process!

I don't even want to spend that on my wedding and that dress is not flattering!

There's such a huge variety of dresses out there, you may be surprised! I'm a size 22/24, and put my budget at $1,500. I was shocked and amazed at the number of dresses I was able to try, and a variety of designers. From Justin Alexander, Maggie Sottero, Wtoo, Kathy Ireland, and several private label dresses too. I knew I wanted a corset back not a zipper, and that helped with structure tremendously. Good luck in your search!!! It really is a lot of fun - and that's coming from a girl who hates clothes shopping.

I thought it was just me. Watching SYTTD was interesting...from the outlandish dresses...to the evil support systems....to the indecisive brides...Great entertainment...no inspiration. My mom has agreed to buy my wedding gown just as she did my sister. Now I Know if my dress cost about a grand she would get it (her's was almost 2)....but I am frugal...very frugal and couldn't bear to pay that much for a dress I would wear one day. I don't see me passing it down. And having thousands of dollars hanging in my closet just didn't make sense (my mom's closet currently has her and my sister's gowns and I have NO interest in wearing either but trying to incorporate them both somehow). I was referred to lightinthebox.com and my mom & I spent hours looking. I always knew what I wanted and I found THEE dress!
