Booking for Wedding

Recommended Posts

Just wondering what others did - book through the chosen resort or book through travel agent? If you book through resort it usually doesn't include airfare correct? I'm finding that some resorts are stating that if you book through the resort they will take care of surcharges for the cocktails and dinner receptions ..... Any advice and tips on what the best way to book the destination. Resort or TA?? If you think of anything else I should be aware of I would really appreciate it :) Thank you all !!!

I am using the travel agent for the travel and hotel stay I enjoy the one stop shop, and think that not using one and having all the guests book their own it may get messy... but then I have been in contact with the resort its self to book the actual wedding its self, It is the control part of me I wanted to speak with someone there and make sure that they got the date and time correct so I wasnt hearing it through a third party!

I prefer a travel agent! If experienced they can make things smoother and make the travel part of the fun opposed to what you have to get through. Also I booked through destinationweddings.com my first agent was not great I asked for a prompt change and now Lynn is my godsend (if you want her info PM me) The perks of traveling with destinationweddings.com is the perks are big for my resort it was 20% off plus $2000 of additions to the wedding. I am a DIY girl but when it comes to international travel I want experience behind me.

I am also using a travel agent couple who specialize in destination weddings. They had a destination wedding themselves so they know the whole process! I have found it so much easier - they deal with all the deposits, booking info, etc and have even made a website for our guests to go on to find any and all the information they would need about the wedding/resort, etc.

I decided to work with a DW TA. I'm currently working with Babs from Wright and she takes the additional work off of my shoulders. My group of family and friends need structure, if I depend on them to book on their own it may be just my FI, MOH, and myself at the wedding. lol

we have some resorts that refer brides directly to us because they know we will provide better service for them as well as the amenities that the resorts are offering.
