Overwhelmed and in need of advice!!

Hi everyone!

This past April was the big engagement and now time to start planning!  We have always wanted destination but never really knew where.  So now that we are looking we realize that there are soo many places out there.  I thought I wanted Riviera Maya but I want more of a Caribbean feel.  Someone suggested Sandals and I was very excited to hear of all that resort offered.  I love the wedding packages that you can get custom made or pick one that has a theme already.  A weight was lifted off of our shoulders when we at least just had it narrowed down to a place. Just recently though I have heard very negative things about the resorts;(.   We were excited to plan but now feel like its a chore.  I just want to go somewhere and have a good time with all my friends and family. So the search is back on.  Here are the things I'm looking for:

- all inclusive

-golf cource

-kid friendly

-mutiple restraunts

-multiple pools

-excursions

-catamaran ride!!!

We have a large wedding party and quite a few quests coming. Do you have any suggestions as to where I should go?  The place that we have the reception at is very important to us too. I've noticed some beautiful pics of the ceremony and once I get to the reception pics I'm disappointed.  I want the reception to be soft lighting or low lighting with a beautiful atmosphere.

Please help!

Congrats Brawne08 + welcome to the forum! you're off to a good start by knowing exactly what you're looking for, so well done :)

We captured some magical wedding reception "moments that matter" in the Mayan Riviera recently as seen here......with more photos at the album link here......https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151121273809487.458833.18683524486&type=3 ....all the best with your planning process!

You never stated what island you two finally decided on, that makes a difference. I believe that every resort will have some negative reviews because as the saying goes "You can please some of the people some of the time, but you can't please ALL off the people ALL of the time."  We are getting married at a Beaches resort because we wanted a family friendly all inclusive that wasn't in Mexico, since my FH said that he didn't want to get married in Mexico. That kind of narrowed things down a bit for us. Since you said a golf course is important, then I know that one of the Sandals resorts in Jamaica offers that and it's all inclusive.

Good luck and let me know if I can help in any way.

Your want list is similar to mine. I just starting planning as well, and I'm leaning towards Punta Cana. I love the Paradisus Palma Real resort which has everything on your list except maybe the catamaran ride...not sure if thats available? You might also like the Majestic Elegance. Let me know if have any questions...I hear it gets better once you finally can decide on the location. I'm with you though...still deciding!!
