La Barcaza - Opinion

Recommended Posts

We have 24 confirmed right now but still have a few slackers that still haven't booked but say they're coming if so we should have about 30 in total :) Even if he isn't on the ball himself I already have a decorator doing décor and I've read on other reviews the DJ is great.  My guests seem pretty pumped to get to have an excursion like this off the resort :) Fingers crossed it doesn't rain though!

Thanks for all the info!!

I'm wondering what kind of order everything went on?  Did everyone have supper then speeches then cake cutting?  Does it go in a certain order or is it up to me to tell them what order I want stuff?  Your pictures are really helping me stay positive that using barcaza for my reception is the right decision it looks like you guys had so much fun!

@@jwalsh I have all the same questions you do about the order of how the day will go. Our wedding is August 11th, 2014 and I am getting really excited!

I have been in contact with Daniel for a couple months now and he is always very quick to respond and has always answered every question I have but sometimes they are not as detailed as a bride would like. You said you are just doing your reception on the boat right? I am having my wedding on their private beach and then the reception on the boat, so i guess i will changing into my wedding dress in the bathroom right before? haha

Please let me know or write a review to let us know how everything goes, and congratulations!!

I know exactly what u mean he is pretty fast to reply but his answers are pretty short. Once it gets closer to my date I'll ask him and hopefully find out..I'll keep u posted once I find out any of these little details. I'm also wondering about how many ppl per table I want to make starfish place cards with guests names but if I don't have a seating plan I'll just have to put generic tags on them.

I'll most defiantly post a very detailed review. Reviews on here have helped me so much with my planning!! Congrats to u too!

hi @@jwalsh,

I got a confirmation of my deposit today from La Barcaza. I am soooo excited for that. I believe that will be the highlight of the day for everyone. My wedding isn't until April 2015 but I wanted to secure the boat because I love that idea. I am waiting now on the resort to confirm my receipt of payment. yay.

If you ladies are wondering there's 5 8 person tables and 10 4-6 person tables. I think we'll do 3 8 person and one small for our group. I want to do assigned seating so this was helpful for me to know. He also assured me the bus that transports people is comfortable and executive Our wedding is less than a month away so I'll keep you posted how it all turns out :)

@@jwalsh you must be getting so excited!! I don't think I'm doing assigned seating but I am also going to do the 8 person tables. Are you guys having a sweetheart table? I can't decide if we should sit by ourselves or not. Also what company are you using to decorate and what kind of decorations are you doing?

HI girls, @@jwalsh @@rednlovinit21

Stupid question here: but I was wondering if the boat supplied the tables and chairs and the cutlery and plates? I know that decorating it you would need to use a company and pay extra for that stuff but wasn't sure about the basics.

I am going to be using Carribean Celebrations for the decorating.

@@kcole123 I am using carribean celbrations as well! I have been back and forth with them for well over 5 months because I keep changing everything and they have been completely awesome about it haha.  La Barcaza provides the tables, chairs & cutlery free of charge. I'm not sure about the plates, they are in the qoute I have but I think that is only because I wanted a specific plate so it's a little more. Have you emailed them yet to get a qoute? She has always gotten back to me extremely quickly and their prices seem pretty reasonable. I'm not doing anything crazy, just tablecloths, chair sash, super simple centerpiece and the rest is just bouquets and a few other small things. Probably will bring a few things from home as well to add.

Are you doing your actual ceremony with the boat or just using them for your reception?

@@rednlovinit21 I am just doing the reception on the boat. I wanted to keep the decorations simple also. I was just planning on having tablecloths, centre pieces, and white lights (not sure if lighting is provided by the boat or not)

I did get the quote from them but it doesn't say anything about plates or pricing. I just have a quote for the international open bar, the dj, and mixed grill. I am assuming they would provide the plates and cutlery anyway. but I wasn't 100% sure on that.

I am having my ceremony at the garden gazebo at Melia Caribe tropical. I wanted the La Barcaza for the reception because I thought that would be different.
