Choosing Between Dreams or Club Med Resorts in Mexico and DR

I am planning a destination wedding for April 2013. I have been doing ALL of the research and quoting and estimates and FINALLY narrowed it down. I wanted it to be budget friendly but not sacrifice the quality of the all inclusive resorts. So far I am loving the options from Dreams in Los Cabos or Punta Cana as well as the Club Med in Ixtapa or Punta Cana as well. Just wanting to hear any and all tips from brides who have used these locations. I also want to know if you personalized your wedding (DIY stuff). Any and all advice, tips, words of encouragement is greatly appreciated.
