Dominican Cake YUM!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, has anyone ever ordered Dominican cake in Punta Cana or know of a place that makes them nearby?

We are not going to opt for the cake provided by the resort, every resort cake I've had for friends weddings have been mediocre.  I am Dominican from Santo Domingo (left to Florida at 10yrs of age) and I would suggest you try some Dominican cake in your nearby spanish neighborhood.  Dominican cake is AMAZING, they infuse the cake with layers of fresh fruit of your choice, and the cake itself melts in your mouth and it's a known amazing thing the people of the country take pride in.

For example, we had a Pot Luck for Thanksgiving here in Manhattan, my fiancee and I (at the time my gf) were one of the couples assigned with providing a dessert of our choice.  I quickly explained to her that we "have this one in the bag".  She smiled and told me what we were going to do, so I made a phone call to a Dominican dessert place in Brooklyn, New York, I asked them what part of the country they were from and they were from "El Cibao - Santiago" which I could quickly tell by their accent (means the cake is yummy) so we placed an order, they made the cake and I picked it up a few hours before the potluck.

Not one dessert was touched the entire evening!  People couldn't believe, good thing the cake was huge because people were taking some home.

Anyway, I just want to avoid shipping one over from Santo Domingo the day of the wedding.  If someone makes it locally that would be ideal.  Just wanted to share with you all.

Overlook the cosmetics of this piece (it looks like its for a b-day party), look at the inside:

Hi KevNYC, I actually make cakes for birthdays and weddings. I am not Dominican, but I can make an amazing Dominican cake. I make it with pineapple, guava or apple and real butter. My Dominican mother in law tought me. I also cover them in fondant with the design of your choice or meringue like in your picture. If you are interested contact me at [email protected]
