Our wedding photos are one of the most important aspects of our "Special Day". After the planning involved in any wedding especially a Destination Wedding, the photos will be the only way to capture those beautiful yet unforseen moments that only a photographer can make happen.   We love the beach and chose Punta Cana as we know how spectacular it will add to our photos! I will not only be marrying my best friend but I will have 2 new stepchildren in my life ~ I want them to look back years down the road and remember what a perfect day it was for us to unite as a family and the photography is the one to make these memories even more memorable with amazing, unique photos.

The memories will last a lifetime for those of us who will be attending but for the people who cannot attend, a wedding photo album means everything.

Unfortunately, we have many close relatives unable to attend our wedding and share the experience so it is so important to us to have beautiful photos to look back on and share with the ones who could not make it.  I have also recently had an unexpected surgery to help with my severe hearing disability so the expense involved has really set back how many extras we are able to have and the fees for outside vendors...

Samuel,

After choosing the destination, photography is the next most important step of my fiance's and my planning process.  We took weeks to narrow down our search of towns, beaches and resorts, finally deciding on Excellence Playa Mujeres.  Currently, we have been researching photographers for about a month and a half.  As every bride realizes, when the day is over (in the blink of an eye!) all that remains is your memories and photos that will be treasured and shared for the remainder of your lives.  While I can't wait to pick out flowers and cakes and bridesmaid dresses, it is the photographer that will set the tone for how we remember the wedding.  He or she is the one that is going to make those flowers and that cake look beautiful in the photos that my fiance and I will pore over as soon as they come in.  These photos will be seen by all of our family and friends - those who honored us with their presence at the wedding, as well as those who were unable to attend.  And most importantly, these photos will be there for our kids and grandkids.  My fiance and I will tell the story of our wedding with as much detail as possible, but actually showing images of us exchange vows all dressed up will be priceless.  Specifically, I am so excited to see images of myself getting ready with my mother and sisters, my fiance and I seeing each other for the first time and our first kiss as husband and wife.  Pictures of all of the friends and family that chose to make the trip to support us are also very important to us. We chose a destination wedding because we wanted to be in a beautiful place as we made this beautiful promise to each other, and we are looking forward to someone capturing the joy and beauty of the day in photos for us to treasure always.

How important is photography to you on your wedding day, and why?

I would love to say that the photography is one of the most important parts of my wedding, but I am honestly worried I am going to have to give up that dream of having beautiful pictures of my husband and I on our wedding day. I see all these amazing pictures that are just stunning, and the brides look perfect, like something out of a magazine and I would love to have something like that. I have a fear that whoever photographs our wedding will take unflattering photos, and I will hate them, and hide them and have nothing to show people from our wedding. I don't like getting my picture taken, I know most women don't, but I am to the point where looking at pictures of myself makes me feel sick. I am 6'1" and a size 18 and I feel like I look like a giant, while other women look delicate and graceful. I worry I will look like a joke in my beautiful dress (which is gorgeous) and look like a slob next to my 3 beautiful, tiny bridesmaids. I know in reality it will not matter, my fiancee loves me and as long as at the end of the day I get to marry the man of my dreams, I will be the happiest and luckiest women in the world. I just hope I can have the pictures that can show how beautiful I feel when my fiancee looks at me. I want to see myself the way he sees me and have pictures I can display proudly.

He works as a production artist in an advertising firm and has an artistic, keen eye. I am a bubbly high school teacher with a hobby of capturing every moment of my life- from the food we cook together in the kitchen, to our travels and date nights together. Pictures are moments frozen and preserved and aside from the vows traded, and the family and friends in attendance- are the most important part of a couples wedding day. Great photography should capture emotions, laughter, and accomplishments and transport anyone looking at them to the place and time they were taken. This is particularly important to my fiance and I because planning a destination wedding, while the best decision for us, certainly impacted the ability of our friends and family to attend. We want our pictures to reflect the love we have shared over the years and the love that will be at its highest peak on that day. Both of our grandmothers have faced health struggles this year and there seemed to be no happy medium in choosing a wedding location. My grandmother lives in GA, his in the Dominican Republic. Even though we are getting married in Punta Cana, his grandmother cannot travel to our wedding site. We agonized over the decision to get married somewhere where neither grandparent could travel but in our hearts knew we wanted to share the date with each. That is where photography comes in. Our photos are our way of insuring everyone- no matter their ability to travel, can partake in the most meaningful day of our lives.

Photography is so important to us and incorporated in all the aspects of our big day. Our table numbers will have photos from significant moments in our lives and wrapped around my bouquet I will be holding a locket with my grandmothers wedding picture. While there is nothing like having the physical presence of a loved one, a photo provokes a thousand memories- and I want to be surrounded by them on my wedding day. I also want to make new ones. I want the photos chronicling our wedding to be timeless, to last through the years as our love grows, to be present all around my house, as a reminder of the day I married my best friend, and as a memento to pass on to my future children.

My friends and family often poke fun at the fact that I am always taking pictures. I always tell them "I'm trying to freeze time!", and while I am no professional- that is what photography should do. We want a photographer who can capture everything from our goofy silliness, to our serious "I do" moment and everything in between. We have a tall order for our photographer and are looking for someone to rise to the challenge. In the end, the only things I will be able to take away from my wedding day will be the memories-and the photos that captured them.

Aside from the ceremony itself, the photography is the most important part of our wedding. We spend all these months, blood, sweat and tears planning our wedding, and then it goes by in a blurry flash of emotion and nerves. The photos (and video) are what we have to rely on, to look back at and piece together that most special and amazing day of our lives. They capture the love we shared, the moments we (the bride & groom) had with each other, with family & with friends, the fun, the party, every bit of the day that we worked so hard to plan perfectly. I love photography, I love looking back through my photo albums and reminiscing, and I know my wedding photos will be the most amazing and cherished of those albums. I am serious about finding the perfect photographer for my wedding, and in looking at your portfolio, at your beautiful photojournalistic style, I certainly believe you would do an amazing job and give us the beautiful wedding photos that we are hoping for, to look back at and cherish forever. Photography is more of an expense than I had originally anticipated and I am having a very hard time right now in trying to find the money in our budget to afford it, so I feel blessed with the opportunity to win your amazing services in this contest!! Thank you for offering it, my fingers are crossed!!

Getting married and having a dream wedding is something that every little girl dreams of but for my fiance and I it's more than that just having pretty decorations or good food, it's the foundation to our future. If it were up to us it doesn't matter where we get married, it could be at the most luxurious venue in the world or behind a trash dump, as long as we're together and surrounded by the people who love us then that's all that matters but the one thing that we won't sacrifice is our photography for the wedding. When the wedding is all said and done all we'll have is our memories and the pictures that we were taken that day but as we get older our memory fades and we can easily forget some of the greatest moments of our special day but pictures keep that from happening. Every engaged couple spends years and months planning their wedding but sometimes we're just so busy planning that we forget that once that day comes and goes, it's gone, like the blink of an eye and we can never get it back but having a physical representation of those memories allows us to recapture that moment and remember how excited we were to start our new lives together and in the future if we ever loose sight of the reason why we got married then all we have to do is pull out those photos and see the love on our faces and realize why it never worked out with anyone else.

Photography is the most important part of a wedding. Once the night is over, once the flowers have wilted, once the party has ended, all that remains are the photos that captured every moment of the day. I am the 12th of my grandma's 13 grandchildren to get married...and the only wedding she will not be able to attend because I have always dreamed of getting married on the beach. The flight to Mexico is too long for her, and the heat is too much for her to handle at her age. So photography is the way that I will be able to let her feel apart of my day. It is very important to me to have an exceptional photographer that will capture every moment to bring home to my grandma to see my special day.

WOW.....how do I describe how important photography is to my wedding......

Like breath is to life and love is to Marriage..............its the footprint of the commitment that will change our life forever...........

It is capturing intimate moments that will never occur again...for a spit second...the emotion lingers on a page...........so it lasts forever

Its ART.... TIME... LOVE.... all stopped...................so it can be remembered just as it was...in that moment

Capturing that moment is a gift......a sweet gift that can tainted by the eye of the beholder..........and that is why we look for a photographer who has an eye for how we look at the world

...................a photographer with a true talent for capturing LIFE......

I am very very impressed by the pictures posted from Samuel Luna and being a photographer myself finding someone with an eye for how you see the world really matters to me. His pictures are breathtaking and it would mean more than I can describe on this page to have even a few photos of my wedding that have the intensity and realism of his photos. At this time in my life we are not able to afford the kind of photography that would tell the story of our wedding how I would like it to be told, like Samuel Luna would tell it, but the opportunity to win it would bring me sooo much happiness I am not sure there would be any way to describe it.....it would be a miraculous dream come true straight from heaven!!!

Photography is an extension of life...of who we are and how we see the people around us and the pain sadness and laughter we all feel stopped for a split second to be relived every time we look back on it...it is nothing short of amazing...a gift to be cherished

I dream of our wedding day... the way it will look, the way we will feel, and the chance to make it the most beautiful day to share with the person I will spend the rest of my life with. To us, Pictures are the most important part. I know this day will fly by and I will never want it to end, and for this one day, pictures will be able to recreate all the special moments and memories of our day. I have always been the girl that has picture frames and portraits all over my house, because to me a picture is a moment in time. On this one special day, I want to have the most vivid memories captured as we embrace our new chapter of life. I would love the opportunity to win a lifetime of memories.
