There are so many great ideas on here and I am happy to say I'm a 2014 bride as well! We've decided on the Dreams Puerto Vallarta in October! We have been to the Deams Cancun and loved it, and I completely trust this brand of resorts - which is why I feel so comfortable with it. My brother and sister-in-law went to Secrets Myan Riviera for their honeymoon last year, and they loved that location as well. For anyone still searching, you can't go wrong with a Secrets or Dreams (at least in my opinion!)

I did see that a few of you have chosen Paridisius Punta Cana as your location - We went there on a trip last year and it was a beautiful resort, so you are making a great decision! The food was awesome, the staff was friendly, and the scenery was gorgeous. We especially loved the fact that there was so much plush greenery and the jungle like atmosphere all around. If any of you have any questions about this resort (or the Dreams Cancun), PM me, I can tell you what I know.

I am going to be doing a lot of DIY myself - invites, OOT bags, decorations, everything!. I have already done my bridesmaid boxes, that I need to take pictures of so I can share. I am slightly obsessed with them and I wish I had made one for myself! Pics to come...

I am going to do all my stationary myself too (I am in marketing, so I have experience with graphic design..). My first project was the save the date. I am going with a mix of varying corals, blushes and a hint of light seafoam green as my colors....what do you think?!

They look great!!! You get married just over a month after I do at Dreams :D We'll have to keep in touch through the Dreams thread, ensure our wedding's go beautifully! You will absolutely LOVE Dreams PV- it is stunning.

Yes Jenny2014! We will have to! I follow both Dreams PV threads too! So much info!

I wanted to hear from you all on your "timeline" for save the dates, invites and RSVP request, etc. I want to send mine early, but also fear that sending too early might cause people to lag/forget...

My original thinking for an October 2014 wedding was

Save the Date: July 2013

Invites: October 2013

RSVP request by date: January 2014

I am having a fight with myself right now, because I want to get everything out early to give people enough time to plan their vacations, and get responses back early to give me enough time to plan. However (and I very well could be over thinking things) I fear that sending the invites too early and giving too much time to RSVP will make people lag because they think they have enough time to think about it and then they will forget. So I guess my concerns are: is a year invite too far in advance? and is allowing 3-4 months to long? (coincidentally is asking for RSVPs almost 8 months in advance too soon)?

LOL tell me if I am crazy and thinking too much about this!!

I know destination weddings aren't following traditional timelines/rules by any means, so just looking to see how you ladies are solving this!

Also, I loved your girls' idea of a binder so much that I created one for myself this weekend! Does anyone else get more excited about the weekends without plans that you get to spend doing wedding research vs. the weekends that are jam packed with events, dinners, outings, etc.!?

I had nothing to do this weekend and loved just lounging by myself doing wedding stuff (with a glass of wine of course) I had so much fun! HA

I was originally going to send out save the dates with a years' notice but my Travel Agent advised against it. Since pricing that far ahead is barely in, she said to give it a month or two so that guests that are on the fence can have all the pricing information more readily available to them.

My date is May 23, 2014. I'm in the process of getting my STDs ready and will be sending them out end of July/early August. My formal invites will be sent around December.

Hope that helps :)

Love that you posted this, I was just thinking about this!

Our date is July 10th, 2014.

We just sent out save the dates, so June 2013.

Invites I was planning on sending September 2013.

& I didn't know when to request an answer! So I will see what some of you guys say! ^^

I'm the same though, I'd send out invitations now if it were all appropriate!

I'm getting married April 26,2014 at Now Sapphire and I'm 90% done with planning!!! I suggest getting as much out of the way as possible so you can truly relax and enjoy your engagement period! The only thing I have to do is print wedding signage, menus, and escort cards. I'm not mailing invitations because all 50 of my guests have booked their rooms so no need to waste money or allocate it towards a photo booth! I must admit I may have an unfair advantage because I'm a wedding planner!!!

Congrats! and Welcome! Well you've brought me to shame!!! LOL I have just mailed out my invitations yesterday and have my rsvp date of November 15 as I decided not to do a room block. So now, I'm like now what do I do? But I should probably start getting things b/c by end of August I go into my very last and what's sure to be a hectic semester in grad school and by the time I'm done...it'll be January with 2 months left! Ugh!! Panic attacks!!!

Great moms on your side! ! Tough decision convenience if closeness or saving money. ..which site is a better fit for your wedding.. the budget im on i'd probably have to pick the most cost effective.

An update: I told my mom about the situation with the off-resort wedding, and from the little that I told her, she seemed to think that it was a great idea!  The thing that I have to figure out now is whether I want to travel a little further (30 minutes away) and save a lot of money or stay 5 minutes away (nearly double the cost!!)

They are beautiful! !! Do you have a ny materials left over to make yourself one? I know it's time consuming but wull save you the headache from the one godsister

I have finally finished my invitations!!!! The dilemma I have is i have 4 extra and my family has added 4 extras to the guest list and I want to keep one for myself!!!! This literally probably took me an entire 3 weeks to assemble and about 2 months of designing and redesigning the passport. The DVD is like a movie of the videos of the resort I found on youtube which I added my own text and background music to really get the guests excited to book!
