small wedding...what to do after the reception?

Recommended Posts

Hi !

Since my wedding has few guests - 11 - (from 4 years old to 64...), what can I do after the meal. We will probably eat from 6:30 to 8- 8:30 and I don't know what to do after that.

Not many people dance in our group and my 4 + 5 year old will be with us so plans on going to a club (even at Dreams Tulum resort) is out of the question!

For those who are married, what did you do after?

For those who are not married, what are you planning on doing?

I have a similar problem too. We're having a veeeery small wedding too. My parents, his parents, his aunt and uncle and some friends. I have no idea what to do after dinner either. We won't be having a "reception" b/c with that few of guests theres not really a way to reserve a big room and do dancing and stuff. But I want to do something after dinner I just have no idea what either. Sigh.

We had a slightly larger group, but a short reception (only about 3.5 hours).

Afterwards we left it up to each person what they wanted to do, but our plan was to go see one of the shows and then hit a disco afterwards. It worked out great...just about everyone went to see the show, and then those who were still awake enough went to the disco. No one felt forced to do anything, and those who didn't want to do anything at all just went back to their rooms or whatever :)

We had a very small wedding, we had all intentions of either changing into our suits and go for a night swim or go out to the clubs, but after the big meal we had we all just sat around and talked and then turned in early, the single guys ended up going to the club. But it was nice because DH and I had alot of alone time that night. :-)

Ok...I'm here and I have the answer LOL.....

We had a total of 21 people with us. We had our wedding and reception at Baja Cantina....a very good choice if you don't mind strangers watching and clapping. The food was delicious! Anyways.... We didn't have a band or a dj (we had a mariachi band just for the ceremony). So after dinner I was planning to go out to a club to go dancing.....BUT it turned out that everyone just decided to stay on the beach, drink wine, and talk to one another instead. They went dancing the previous nights and had a very very good time just sitting back and relaxing, watching the full moon and the beach. (we had the dinner on the beach). You can also ask Christa what she thought of our wedding (she was there with Rafael :) ).

We had an open bar for 3 hours and bottles of wine for dinner (which we didn't finish but weren't charged for the non-open bottles)

Overall everyone had a good time and when they were tired they just left...my nephews (who are 16 and 20) if had fun just relaxing. No one really wanted to go out but if they did we did have the option :)

Any other questions please ask :)

Oh yeah, we ended up staying at Baja Cantina (our reception site till about 1 or 2 in the morning). Our wedding started at 6pm.

So, we had a small group too - like 17 or something from age 12 to 86. We had our little ipod setup & after dinner everyone just started having fun, requesting songs & dancing with eachother. We got stupid, we had fun, it was totally awesome. I really didn't know if anyone would be into dancing, but it turned out excellent. We also had those giant sparklers for people to play with - I think that may have been what started the dancing.

And, as for Drea & Erik's wedding, yep it was totally cool to chill on the beach & drink wine & chat. It was fun, and I had just met these people!
