Our DIY Aisle Runner is coming along!

Recommended Posts

So since we're getting married on the beach, finding an aisle runner that prevented us from sinking into the sand was a challenge. However, I came across a girl's tutorial on WeddingBee and she had used beach mats to make hers! BRILLIANT!

So, I ordered 7, 2.5x5ft beach mats and used hot glue to join them together. I found out there's these little multi-colored threads in the mats that I don't like, so I went and got some blue spray paint this morning. Yes, 35 ft of spray paint...my finger already hates me!

So this is what I started with

The ugly thread....

And here it is so far!

While I was spray painting I noticed that it's VERY succeptible to wind. So I'm thinking maybe doing river rocks on the outside part? Or maybe some clear fishing weights underneath it. And then where the blue lines down the middle are now, I'm going to put fake rose petals.

Thank you ladies! I actually went and bought some actual paint to brush on versus the spray paint and I'm SO happy that I did!

This is what it looks like now. :) Now I just need to add some flowers! It's not this bright, my Blackberry camera decided to act up. It's more like a light aqua. :)
