Dress Shopping Help

Recommended Posts

So glad I found this thread....I am going to try on dresses for the first time on Saturday and was a bit nervous about what to wear. The lady at the bridal shop said that a lot of dresses have built in bras but you can bring a strapless too. I hope the one I really like has a built in bra because it has a keyhole back and I can think of where the strap would go.

even if it doesn't, you can have gel cups added to give you support (and lift, and curves...). so don't sweat it!

I remember my first dress appointment my consultant was amazing. She shut the curtain for the dressing room and said "All modesty got left the second that you stepped through the store doors, strip!" She made me feel really comfortable, like I was with a friend. I'm also used to changing a lot at motocross races so it wasn't that big of a deal for me.

Definitely wear a strapless bra. If you're a more typical bra size, they'll usually have a bustier for you to wear. I didn't get that lucky since I wear a 34DD. Then some more covering undies, like boyshorts. I never tried on a dress that color mattered, but it's up to you if you're going to be trying on thinner dresses.

I know this thread was already solved, and I'm so happy you found your dream dress! Just remember ladies, the consultants see it ALL every day! There's nothing to be shy about. :)

Depends on where you are shopping . .but the boutiques I went to both had undergarment options on site for me to try on with the dress! My dress is in, YAY, and my first alterations fitting is end of August. I will be bringing a bustier type bra and a regular strapless bra with me, and a tummy spanx . . but I am hoping the alterations girl can do some magic and sew in cups and make me look skinny and 'perky' without hot undergarments. . . . to be continued, lol!
