Yahoo edmonton ladies! Joining in here, gotta catch up! Since I see dress talk, I'll share that I found my dress this past weekend in calgary at jessica bridal, was so happy with the service and wrote an email to the company to explain my deepest thanks to our saleswoman Juanita who was amazing. She made my sister (and MOH) and I feel so special! Dress was 379, my sis surprised me by buying it, couldn't believe it but thanked her immensely! Was in love with MSottero dresses, but after trying on similar ones/a few maggies, they were too heavy for what I wanted. I am addicted to bling on the dresses though and found one that is just perfect for me!
Wow, that's a great price!

I just got back from a trip to Edmonton and actually found two dresses!!

I went to DAVIDS BRIDAL and had an appointment with Maddie, she was amazing! She really knew her stuff. My sisters, mother and mother-on-law went to work picking out dresses for me, as Maddie looked through the racks for dresses she thought fit what I was looking for, as well as the ones I had pointed out on their ipad that I liked. She was fabulous! I got an AMAZING deal on a stunning dress! They had me do a little bell ceremony and everything. It was wonderful.  After sleeping on it though, and after purchasing my non-refundable dress, I decided that it was a little big for my Mexican wedding.

I went back to THE BRIDAL BOUTIQUE at the West Ed and had another GREAT experience with Dorothy, she really knew her stuff. She picked out a number of dresses within my budget and allowed my sisters and mom to pick out some of their own. She was so friendly, gave me honest opinions and really was very attentive. When I came back to try on the dress I had stuck in my mind from a few days earlier, the manager helped me and was so friendly (maybe because she is a fellow Newfoundlander ;)) - she was so helpful, and attentive to me and my sister in law. I wasn't going to make the same mistake and choose a dress I wasn't positive on. So I slept on it, and came back the next day to put down my 50% deposit. The lady who helped me (I forget her name), was so sweet, and I really felt like everyone I dealt with there were not out to make a sale, but there to help me find MY dress, whether it be in their store or not!

On the other hand I went to ETHOS and WALKED OUT! We had our appointment at one, I was greeted by two older ladies, who immediately told us to take our shoes off. Being a nurse, I was not interested in walking around on a grungy carpet that thousands of other bare dirty sweaty feet had been on (so many issues!). I kindly asked if we could keep them on, as our shoes were not dirty. We were told absolutely not, and that no matter where we went, we had to take our shoes off and that's how it was. From the get go I felt like I was burden to them. She asked me abruptly what I was looking for. I gave her an idea of the types of dresses I was looking for, she brought me to the back of the store, said "here is what we have, pick out two, and you can try them on, then will go from there". I looking at maybe two dresses, and looking at my mom and sister's and said 'lets just leave'. They all agreed. On the walk out, the lady said (ugh I wish I got her name), "whats going on?! Where are you going? If its because of the shoes that they way it is everywhere, so if you don't like it, (she raised her arms like, tough s***)" -- I looked at her and politely said, if that's your policy, fine, but this is really not a friendly place, and even if I saw a dress in here I wanted, I would not want to spend my hard earned money in a place like this... and left. I am so happy this was not my first appointment of the day, or I would have been utterly discouraged!!

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear you had such a dramatic experience with a crazy lady, but it's great you found two dresses! I've never heard of Ethos before, are they in the WEM? What are you going to do with the David's bridal dress now?

My best experience was with Ashley at Bridal House. She was so helpful, knowledgeable and kind. She helped me find the dress that I love, and I feel a bit badly for buying the exact dress pre-worn, rather than buying through her. But I saved $1000 on the cost of the dress alone, plus I'll save a bundle not doing my alterations through them as well. Their quote for alterations (simple things - like hem, and having it taken in slightly) was like $600.

Yeah, they are on the opposite end of like Lustre and the Bridal Boutique, down the next hallway. Yeah Ethos was AWFUL!!!

Both dresses are GEORGEOUS! But I feel better for a Mexico destination wedding in the second rather than the first from Davids Bridal, even though the BB one is a great deal more expensive. I am a bargain shopper, so the fact that I was willing to pay so much more, is saying something lol.

I was thinking about trying to find a seamstress that could alter my DB dress into a shorter reception/party dress, do you or anyone know of any such person for a decent price in the Edmonton area? If I can't find someone who can do it without costing an arm and a leg, I might just try to resell it... it really is amazing

Hi brides, Planning a destination wedding to the mayan riveria for April 2014. having a very hard time finding the price i want my guest to pay. Anyone have recommendations for a great travel agent, have seen great prices online for trips but when you speak to a travel agent about a destination wedding to the same resort and time the prices is about 500-600 dollars more.
