Edmonton Brides 2012/2013/ 2014...

Thanks Ladies. I think I'll try Bridal House this week one evening. I went to the Wedding Gown Shop this morning, but it kind of sucked because I had to go by myself and it just wasn't as much fun (we just moved to Edmonton from Ottawa- my entire family is in BC and my FI's family is in New Brunswick, so I don't really have anyone here to come dress shopping!). I'll see if I can drag along a coworker to come with me to Bridal House. Thanks for the recommendation, I'll see if Ashley is working evenings at all!

So I had a great appointment with Ashley last night. She was awesome, thanks for the recommendation! I found a Maggie dress that I love. It's around $1600 in the store, and I've found two used dresses on preownedweddingdresses.com for like $650. It's a tough call. I'd love a new dress, but it's a good opportunity to cut $1000 from our budget, and I might feel slightly less worried about parading the dress through the sand in Mexico.

I am so glad she worked out for you. That's a tough decision to make. I am glad you found your dress though!!! Yeah!!!!!!!

Oh no. I'm really sorry to hear the experience picking it up wasn't great. Is there anything you can share from your experience to help others avoid the same problem (other than avoiding the store?)

Regardless of the experience in-store, I hope your dress is exactly how you want it and you'll feel perfect on your wedding day!

Thanks :) the lady who sold me the dress isn't there anymore, she was great. I ordered my dress small on purpose, not unrealistic-ly small.. Just a bit. The girl who gave me the dress made a huge deal about it not fitting and made me feel pretty stupid/huge. She didn't even try to help me do up what I could and clearly thinks its pretty hopeless. To be fair, the manager, who is new apparently, called and apologized, she was pretty nice. The girl should have just let it go, I know I bought it small, I know I have work to do.. But oh yeah, 7 months til the wedding... And the time to discourage me was when I bought the dress, not when I picked it up... It's gonna fit, it will. I tried it on again later at home, it's not even that bad!

Yahoo edmonton ladies! Joining in here, gotta catch up!

Since I see dress talk, I'll share that I found my dress this past weekend in calgary at jessica bridal, was so happy with the service and wrote an email to the company to explain my deepest thanks to our saleswoman Juanita who was amazing. She made my sister (and MOH) and I feel so special!

Dress was 379, my sis surprised me by buying it, couldn't believe it but thanked her immensely!

Was in love with MSottero dresses, but after trying on similar ones/a few maggies, they were too heavy for what I wanted. I am addicted to bling on the dresses though and found one that is just perfect for me!

Iâ€m going to be pre- packing them and carrying them all down in suitcases….

What customs issues have you heard of?

Iâ€m also bringing down chair sashes, buri fans, bridesmaids bouquets, a trash –the-dress dress, floating lanterns, and some table decorations… My family members will be bringing down an extra suitcase each since they donâ€t need a second one anyways (and only $25 for a second suitcase per person).
