SCARED, WORRIED, CONFUSED GBP BRIDE TO BE!!!

Recommended Posts

Hello there, if ANYONE could please please please help with information on getting married at the Gran Bahia Principe in Runaway Bay, it would be greatly appreciated.

I thought, ooooh a destination wedding is the way to go, they plan everything, you just show up - YA RIGHT!!

We'd like the gazebo but id like lanterns, lights, flowers but my coordinator told me i hv to bring the lanterns myself!!! Seriously, is this true???

I have questions that I can't seem to get answered and don't know where to find them.  My coordinator tells me that we can only have our supper/reception at one of two restaurants.  That isn't something we are wanting, we are looking for a beach supper with torches and lanterns and lights.  Or a very intimate room with just our family, not everyone from the hotel.  This is our second marriage so its just going to be parents, our kids and us, 13 in total.

I have no clue, how do i book for hair and makeup as well as a photographer and video??????? Does the hotel provide this and if so do they hv any pictures of their work???

I dont do well with stress to begin with, so all of this is quite overwhelming.  If anyone can give any advice it would be greatly appreciated!

THANK YOU msnwink.gif

hey lisa!!! Congrats on your engagment and welcome to BDW!!! I wish i could help your situation but i know nothing about GBP or their wedding policies, have you already booked or are you still perhaps looking into other resorts? Most of the brides on this forum do bring down alot of their own decor including lanterns so if the resort is saying you have to supply your own then either look into bringing them or think of other decor ideas. Most all inclusives do put you in the restaurants for your reception dinner.. if you want something private you have to pay extra and it could be a considerable amount.. maybe 50pp, but once again depends on the resort.

BDW is great for figuring everything out... look at all the planning threads and you can get a sense of what brides have taken with them. or the accomidation threads shout have more info on GBP

Lisa, take a deep breath and relax!! Everything will turn out great.

If you are looking for a beach reception, this is not the resort for you.  They offer reception in only two restaurants, or you have the option of paying $2500 to rent out one for yourselves (however, I believe you need to have a certain number of people to do this).

Have you checked out this thread?

There is tons of info on the resort and photos that will help you with your planning.

HI Lisa,

The best thing you can do if you find this overwhelming is to hire a wedding

planner to help you with this...

I had booked at Gran Bahia but we changed it to Beaches ( a Sandals resort)

because GB took about a month to get back through emails to confirm us...apparently they are

understaffed and this caused the delay (no excuse!)

My friend is a wedding planner so shes helping me with this, she had to call

Air Canada Vacations to inform them that the resort is not responding to any

of our emails as well as voice mail messages. They had to call the manager of the

resort and told them they NEED to respond asap.

Don't want to scare you, but we switched and it was a few hundred dollars

more but we get quick responses back and Sandals gives you an online tool

that you can customize your wedding and it gives you the cost.

I'm not saying don't go to GBP but just expect delays in their communication and

if you feel overwhelmed hire someone to help you, it is well worth it.
