So, I got some really bad news....

Shelley - You got a lot of wonderful advice here and I think the most important thing is that hormones area all over the place. And lab results can be wrong - and that's exactly why your doctor is retesting! Try not to get upset just yet. And remember there are many ways that bundle of joy can arrive on your doorstep... natural birth, AI, adoption, IV and probably more that I don't even know about. This does NOT mean you will can't have children - no matter what the test results come back as.

Shelley,

Even though I'm new to the board and I don't know everyone yet I saw this post and it tugged at my heart. I'm going through something similar though I've known for a while. I'm a nanny and I see kids regularly and it is hard sometimes when I hold infants but I've gotten better. Just make sure you see a specialist and wait till he sits you down and explains everything. Sometimes it might be harder but there is alot out there now to help. Even shots daily. More information. I know the first blow is the hardest. It'll be alright. I know my hardest thing was to tell my FI whch was before he proposed. I felt like I was holding him back but hes been amazing and yours is too! Don't give up!! You'll have kids no matter what and you'll be an amazing mother! Feel free to message me anytime. Everything will be ok!

Shelley, I am so sorry to hear this news...

Keep a positive attitude, there are so many ways medicine can help these days. And I agree with Kash, you can become a parent through a different method if it comes to that.

You and Amos will be in my thoughts sweetie.

Oh Shelley, I'm so sorry you're going through this. Try not to let this get you down. Although I know NOTHING about this stuff, I have to say, I don't think that one doctor's opinion is "your final answer." Even though it may be difficult for you to get pregnant ON YOUR OWN, there's SOOOO much fertility specialists can do now, it's crazy. I have 3 friends who have all given birth using IVF.

And get a load of this story - my college roommate tried for years to get pregnant, did IVF twice and had 2 miscarriages in the process. Then after trying for about 3 years, her and her husband gave up and adopted a GORGEOUS little girl from Russia. Well, once she gets home with her new baby, BOOM - she's pregnant. She gave birth to her second daughter and was all set to come to my wedding in April when BOOM - she's pregnant AGAIN!!!! She's due 5 weeks before my wedding - not sure if she's going to make it now. CRAZY!!!

Yeah, the theory behind it is that once the pressure is off, and there's no more stress, it usually just happens. You'd be surprised at how much stress plays a role in all this. Crazy stuff!!!

Shelley - I'm so sorry to hear your news. Everyone has pretty much said what I wanted to, but I'm thinking of you and hope you'll get better news today.

You should definitely get a second opinion, and try to stay positive. Two coworkers of mine in the past year have gotten pregnant with the help of fertility specialists. Neither one had an easy road, but 1 had twins and the other just found out she's pregnant! {{Big Hug}}
