Ask the Photographers!

Recommended Posts

Hi ChocoTaco!

The beach TTD sessions that I offer include approximately 100 images.  Typically, to accomplish that, I will shoot for about 1.5 hours (just as you thought).

I believe most photographers in this area book out the session as a "TTD session", rather than by the hour.  So if they have a TTD package it's not normally a specific amount of time.

I would recommend a few locations for your images actually.  In my opinion, it's nice to get some variety in the photos.  Most photographers will have some kind of route that they are familiar with and end up at the beach.

Here are examples of the two locations that I offer, just to give you an idea.  I would probably just do the session "backwards" so we can start at the beach for sunrise, and then make our way into the area with jungle and ruins, etc.  Both examples also include the beach :-).

I hope that answers your question and helps you decide what you'd like to do.

Have a great day!

Day passes would be utilized for anybody who would like to use the resort facilities for the day. All inclusive drinks & food, pools, etc. In your scenario, when you've got guests staying at another hotel, they'd merely want a day pass to come to your own wedding. Sometimes locals (like me :-) will spend a day (using a day pass) at a resort only for something to do.

Hi Megan.

Good job doing your photographer homework :-).

If you become a fan of the Dreams Cancun Facebook page you can find some samples on there.  Here is a direct link to the album I found of their weddings:  https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.120618341933.128566.72540371933&type=3.  I'm only assuming that is the resort photographer who shared those images.

But, keep in mind, most resorts (if not all :-), contract a company of multiple photographers to shoot their weddings.  Normally, these are the same guys who offer family or couples photos on the beach to anyone at the resort.  So, the part to understand when reviewing their work is that they have multiple photographers.  As far as I know, they will not be able to tell you which photographer will be at your wedding or show you any specific samples of his/her work.  I could be wrong, so it's worth looking into.

One more place you might want to try to get more information is this Facebook page:  https://www.facebook.com/econcierge.drecu.  I'm not entirely sure the purpose of this page but she seems to have alot of information about the resort :-).  I do not know the company that they have contracted as photographers, but maybe this lady will know.  Then she should be able to point you to their company website.

Good luck!!!

Dreams Cancun has some of the coolest things to photograph!!  So, I'm sure whichever route you decide to go, you will get some great photos.  Here are a few of our latest:

Hi Lori, Wow, thank you so much for that info! Choosing a photographer is one of the most important decisions. I want amazing photos of course, I just don't want to pay the same amount for my photographer as I am for the wedding itself! Those links you shared were super helpful. Is it ok to hire one photographer for the wedding and another for TTD? Also, if you would, please PM me with your process and pricing.? Thanks again!!
