Ask the Photographers!

Hola, when I contacted Paradisus La esmeralda/La Perla  I was told I had to pay 3 nights stay or 1000 usd vendor fee to have an outside photographer.

could I just pay for a day pass or night pass instead? they do offer these passes, not sure what they are for?

anyone get around this ridiculous fee?

Hi everyone, I am Michael with A BETTER DJ AND PHOTOGRAPHER. We are nationwide and do 7-20 weddings a week.

My tips for the bride have to do with the before the ceremony photos:

  • Schedule your photographer about 30 minutes before your ceremony start time.

  • Designate someone to straighten up the room before the photographer arrives. Remember all those store bags, clothes, etc laying around the room will be in the background of your photos.

  • Tell all of your bridesmaids to be ready before the shoot, this shoot is about you, and also your girls helping you get ready.

  • If the sun is blasting in the window close the drapes unless you want some silhouette photos.

  • Have your parents arrive a few minutes before the ceremony to get some shots with them.

Great shots to get:

  • Your hands in the air and your face popping out as your girls pulling your dress down. Put a towel over your head to start so you don't mess up your hair and makeup.

  • One of your girls lacing your dress.

  • Your girls putting your veil on.

  • Your girls touching up (or pretending) your makeup

  • One of your girls pulling up your garter.

  • One of your girls putting your shoes on.

  • Shots from being you while you are looking in the mirror.

  • Silhouette shot of you looking out the window

Be sure to designate one of your girls to answer your phone and someone else to be at your reception venue to handle the vendors you hired. If you hired an independent DJ be sure to have a back-up on standby just in case and have his number in your phone.

Hey... Anita right?... We were in touch already on Facebook.  The only information I have about the Paradisus vendor fee is exactly what you mentioned - $1000USD or 3 nights at the hotel.

Day passes would be used for anyone who wants to use the resort facilities for the day.  All inclusive food & drinks, pools, etc.  In your case, if you have guests staying at another hotel, they would just need a day pass to come to your wedding.  Sometimes locals (like me :-) will spend a day (using a day pass) at a resort just for something to do.

My only suggestion would be to subscribe to some of the travel sites, like Bookit.com and watch for a sale to come up.  You never know.  Maybe the rooms will be offered at a super good price one of these days!  It does happen :-).  I got an awesome deal on Bookit.com for the Now Sapphire before.  Like $130 bucks per person per night!!  Almost a third of the regular price.

Good luck!  I will let you know if I hear anything different.
