If I can get away with every other chair or even every three and it still looks nice then I will. But whatever I can pack in a suitcase and someone elses carry ons then that's what I'm taking. Hurricanes and candles add an elegant touch. They're little but they do so much. Are you renting your table cloths and napkins and traveling with them?

Every other chair or every few is a good idea. I was going to use just the white table linens that Secrets includes, and only buy/bring cloth napkins. I also am planning to re-sell as much as possible when I get back!

Great idea...there was a bride on here a few months ago and she sold all of her items through her post. I'm sure you won't have a problem with selling. Your seven months out...I hope your ready! LOL

Congrats! We are also getting married at Secrets St James on August 24, 2013. My wedding planner has worked with them on several occasions and she has nothing but great things to say about them.

Oh yay, so happy to hear that!

I'm curious about all of these things as well. I think there is only sand next to the Casita but I'm not sure.

Are you planning to do your cocktail hour AND reception on the beach? That's what I'm planning for at the moment. We'll see if I change my mind as things get closer!

I'm planning to use the beach (not the Casita) and have them set up a bamboo structure that they'll drape with fabrics I plan to purchase in my colors. The Secrets WC sent me a doc with wedding pictures of various upgrades so this is what I'm using to go off of for now.

I found one pic online that shows the entire section of the Casita. From what I can tell, the coctail hour is set up right next to the Casita and I think there is sand there. But I questioned it because that pic is from when the resort first opened. I'm doing the 4:00 timeslot so my reception will be at sundown and it will be cool enough for my guest to sit outside. So yes, that's the plan.

I love the bamboo arch!! I was nervous that their beach location was in the common area of the beach. Do they have a secluded beach area they use?
