Just engaged...let the planning begin!

Hi everyone.

I just got engaged last month and it's funny how often I've been asked the questions "do you know when you're getting married? have you set a date? do you know where?".  it's not that the questions aren't valid, it just seems that people expect an answer the next day after you've gotten engaged.

anyway, my fiance and i are leaning towards a destination wedding.  probably looking at playa del carmen or riviera maya.  we've both been to that area and love the color of the water. however, i'm a little overwhelmed as to wher to begin.  i've been looking on destinationweddings.com but have read some pretty negative reviews.  i don't want to dishout $50 just for an initial consultation and if the WC aren't reliable. (please feel free to chime in if you have had ANY experience with destinationweddings.com.)

that being said, my fiance and i definitely want to get married in a chapel/church - any recommendations would be welcomed. we don't know much about the resorts down there and would also appreciate suggestions.  also if you used a WC or event planner that was just awesome, please let me know.

we are thinking wedding for end of February 2013 or early April 2013 (trying to avoid March's spring break madness).

thank you!

Congratulations on your engagement! "Have you set a date?" was the first thing my parents asked us when we called them. Our response was, "No, literally this just happened 15 minutes ago." People loose perspective. Good luck with your planning!
