Fiances Help

Recommended Posts

For all you ladies out there.. how much is your groom to be  involved in the planning of the wedding... and more specifically the decor.. does he really care what colors are chosen? which flowers you want? has there been anything he specifically says we does not want?

My fiance is female, so perhaps more interested than a groom might be, but still nowhere near as interested in all of this as me.  She likes to have a say, but she much prefers me to narrow the choices down to two or three things I like and only show those to her, since too many choices completely overwhelm her.  It does help that we have similar taste and ideas; mine are just more specific. I think if I really wanted a certain flower, for instance, she would just nod and be happy with it.

I second asking him which details he is most interested in.  I did this with my partner in the beginning, and she was able to let me know about the things she really cares nothing about, versus the things she wants to actively help choose.  Saves her being bored to tears with things she has opinion on, and saves me getting annoyed when she has no opinion on said things (whereas I have opinions on everything!).  Also allows her equal say (or better) where it counts, with the things she cares most about.

Some days it seems he really doesnt care and i can do whatever.. then other days out of nowhere he just comes up with some really great ideas.. the other day he came up with an idea for our OOT bags and today he came home with our cardbox, without even consulting me!!! but it was perfect and i love it!

My husband seemed like he really didnt care about many aspects of the wedding.  The only thing he was adament about was no pink or purple as part of the colors.  He didnt have any input into anything else.

Wow.  Since he went out of his way to come home w/ a card box...he must be somewhat interested.  That's great.  I don't think my FI cares that much.  If I ask his opinion, he'll give one...but I can tell he doesn't love me droaning on and on about stuff...lol

My Fi has been similar to Cherany - couldn't be bothered with trawling through lots of things, much prefers me to narrow it down and then he helps choose. Think that it's always good to ask the question as to how much they want to be involved - I think too often it gets assumed its all about the bride, and I really think they should be given the option as it is their big day too.

My FI is like lkterry's. If I ask him his opinion, he'll share it. Otherwise he doesn't really care.

I think it can vary by the fiance.  Speaking from a grooms standpoint, I do care about the details of the wedding but I also know that she has been dreaming of this moment since she was a little girl.  So I will give input but in the back of your mind, don't you already know what you want?
