How much are you spending on other events, besides the wedding day itself?

I love the idea of a cooking class. That sounds like so much fun!

We're having a 1 hour cocktail party the day before the wedding (right after the rehearsal dinner since that will only be for immediate family & wedding party).  We may even do that 2 days before the wedding because it may be a bit too much of time-crunching.  That is included as one of the kick-backs we get from the resort, a privatized 1 hour cocktail party, which we will call "Welcome Cocktail Party".  Having a welcome dinner was just too expensive for us.  Our rehearsal dinner is costing us $150 b/c we have more than the allotted qty of quests included in the package we chose (10 people over at $15 pp).  Other than that, we aren't paying anything else for our guests, because #1, it was too costly, and #2, we didn't want our guest's vacations to be dictated only by our wedding events.  I think we'll prob only have 1 excursion, like zip-lining or something which we will work out time, costs, transportation etc but the guests will need to pay themselves if they wish to attend.

We will be paying extra for over head count at reception. For welcome dinner we are just planning on meeting at one of the restaurants than is included with the all inclusive that way we are not paying extra. There we will hand out or welcome bags. Saving us $4 per bag. The other thing we may pay extra for is a cocktail party after the reception

We are planning a Welcome Mexican Fiesta Party for the evening when most people arrive. It will be a private event with cocktails and will cost a bit for 50 people. We have a dinner reservation for 40 for the day after the wedding and reception but it is optional. I think a lot of people will opt to go to either another on site restaurant or into Playa del Carmen. Most people are only staying 4 nights so we want them to have time for their vacation.

I don't want to make people spend their whole vaca with wedding related events so we aren't doing welcome dinner or rehearsal...I am contemplating some sort of excursion but may just do a spa day for the bms

We are also keeping the wedding-related events to a minimum. An informal cocktail meet up once everyone arrives at the resort is all that's planned so far. We are trying to decide if we want to spend the $2500 that was quoted to us for the private catamaran cruise, but if we do go ahead with it we'll nix the cocktail get-together.
