ladies..

any advice on whether or not I should send STD's?

The reason I am asking is because I have already had over half of my guest submit their room and flight deposit for the wedding - Canadian guests only.

Since my fiance is american his family has not yet booked anything since we do not have pre made USA flight and hotel packages done. Is it worth sending a STD anyways then an invitation later this year just cause?

My wedding is May 2015

Hi Girls,

Here are my invitations. I found a local girl on kijiji that did them and they turned out really well. Sorry it's not in order and the paper is all lopsided. It's because this is how she is sending them to the printers. But it gives you an idea. I love them.

How did guests know about your wedding if you didn't send STDs?

I think it is a matter of personal preference. I knew I wanted to incorporate a luggage tag, passport, and airline ticket. Therefore, I made & sent STDs that were luggage tag magnets.  I sent them 1 year before the wedding date so guests were aware and had plenty of time to prepare & save up money to go. (I smile every time I see them on a friend's refrigerator.)

Then I sent passport invitations along with boarding ticket rsvp cards (I made the rsvp's too) 9 months before the date. This still gave people time to lock in a good rate. It's an all inclusive resort.

If it is not a burden to your budget, send the std for the sake of being considerate to your guests' planning - taking off work, paying deposits, booking early for better rates.

Also I have a best friend who is coming with her husband to my destination wedding. She also received another invitation to a family friend's DW in Jamaica during the same month. She passed on the other person's because she had received my invitation early and had already committed to me. I feel so lucky I sent mine first!

Remember, the earlier you send info about your event, the more likely your guests will be able to attend! We have 50 people and counting... ;)

Thanks!!

Since we hired a travel coordinator she had reached out to each guest personally to discuss the process of booking our group package since it was a group booking for the Canadian guests which included flight, hotel, transfers.

I do still want to send a STD regardless I think - especially since the American guests right now are on their own in terms of the packages. My travel coordinator is in Canada so she can make packages for Canada only. her american package prices are like double what the guests could find on their own so we are just going to hold a block of rooms for the American guests and have them look for their own flights based on the dates we give them for arrival and departure.

Thanks for the tips on timing. I think I'll look at getting the STD's out here in the next few weeks for everyone then invites this summer directing them to our website we have set up for RSVP's. We are only having 35 people.
