I asked for a preliminary RSVP via our website on mine. They went out about three weeks ago and I haven't gotten much response~ about 5 out of 75 save the dates.

I understand there will still be maybes and I'm totally ok with that- I was just trying to get better idea of what size group we were looking at.

I'm hoping people will re-visit once they start researching the resort/pricing, talking to travel agents, etc.

I also noticed though that only 25 people have even gone to the website! So we'll see!

I did a STD with the address of our wedding website and requested people rsvp thru the website in order to help us know numbers for planning etc.  Like a few others have said, I think most of my guests thought my STD was the invitation so they expected to RSVP after receiving the postcard.  I definitely recommend RSVP now - knowing numbers early on can help plan etc.

I think it's a great idea to put a "tentative" RSVP on the STD's. We put the link to our website on our STD's with a note asking to "help us in planning appropriately and leave a tentative RSVP until invitations go out. Although the resort doesn't need final counts until the last 2 months or so, we wanted an idea b/c there's lots of planning & buying to do until the wedding! This helps tremendously because it also cuts cost on total invitations we'll have to purchase. If guests reply that they're definitely not going, we won't send an invite b/c we already know they can't make it. The STD i felt was a great way to include everyone so they know we thought of them and then invitations only to hose who are definitely going.

Jenny- I see you are also a May bride. What did you use for your tentative RSVP date?

I sent an RSVP postcard with my STD. I also included a letter which explained that we wanted a tentative RSVP to help us get an idea of how many people will be attending for planning purposes. I sent out 62 STDs in February and received about 30 RSVP cards back (asked for a response by mid-April). I will still send out an RSVP with our formal invites.

I sent out the std's requesting an RSVP asap. No specific date. They went out around the second week of June and I already have 22 people booked. Although I have not gotten any no's yet. Ill let you know more as time goes on.

I didn't send an RSVP with the STD, though many are thinking it is an invite. But I directed them to our website, and on there it does request that people tentatively RSVP asap... we just wanted to cut down on invites to make and deliver (MIB)

So far only a few couples (4 plus us) have RSVPd to us, and of those, only one booked. Only one of those 4 couples was a surprise. We know the others will though; they are just waiting on vacation time confirmation.

We know that some people we sent STD to will not come, and we know which ones, but we have not yet had anyone rsvp no to us. So I guess it was unsuccessful that way. Maybe they will yet.

If not, the ones we are 90% sure won't come, even without a RSVP, will be getting smaller invites.I don't have enough bottles to make them for everybody.
