Unfortunately - asking any one of the local photographers is out of the question as they're not willing to give up their special locations.

Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions as to where to go?

I'm a bit worried about going to deep cenotes as my dress is quite heavy and i don't want to sink - so any ideas/help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hello Sunshine,

There are plenty of cenotes in the area BUT is not that easy as it seems... as Pierre says, you have to consider the sunset time and the location where the cenote is located since sunlight is very important for good photos.  If you are bringing your own photographers and they are not familiar with the area, I would suggest to ask your photographers to do a couple of days prior your TTD session a site inspection in order get the best hour for shots and avoid people around so you can get beautiful photos!

Good Luck!

Hello ladies!

A lot of the best cenote locations are actually private locales hired directly with the photographers. We have our "secret" off the map spots and special agreements with the owners. It's often better this way to avoid crowds at the more well-known sites, with a lot of people in the water it can really stir up sediment and make it far less personal and special. Talk to your photog (Del Sol perhaps?) and see what they recommend.

Here are a few cenote trash the dress photos to stimulate your senses, let us know if you would like to be our next mermaid bride!

Hello!

So you are saying that photographers have exclusivity agreements with the locals that manage the cenotes? My friends are professional photographers and will be doing the shoot. Do you have this agreement for most cenotes? We were going to scout out spots when we get there the first day and find a spot....

Not necessarily "exclusivity" agreements, but working arrangements with some of the "off the beaten track" cenotes. If you are going scouting, I recommend looking around the area south of Playa del Carmen, there are a lot of great places around the Barcelo Maya area. :)
