Hey Kal, I'm actually a bit of a Shellac snob...  Many use the term Shellac to generalize all gel nail polish systems, but Shellac is a specific brand by CND.  In my honest opinion it's the best gel polish brand and I've experimented with a few over the past 2 years. it has limited color options compared to its competitors, but the best pigmentation, protection, and healthiest option for natural nails in the long run.  Aside from this, gel polish is a bit harder to work with and not all nail techs apply it well, I've seen and heard of a few sub-par applications.  Finally I spent the months of January and February experimenting with wedding nail options and layering polish colors and know exactly what I want. I'm getting my nails done 5 days before the wedding and there will be minimal growth and since my nail color is neutral, I'm not too worried about it. Probably more of an opinion than what you were going for, but hopefully it helps you decide.
Never more of an opinion than needed, I am OCD about anything beauty especially when it comes to wedding day look, I've been stockpiling high end wedding day makeup for the makeup person to use since I am such a brand snob!! I think I will stick with the resort and if I hate it I will be bringing a backup opi color I like and they can just do a regular mani with that I suppose? I have had shellac chip on the corner/edge once or twice and would die if that happened before the wedding.

Tova Seeing as how you are a shellac snob (lol) and I know nothing about it, I was also thinking of getting it done for the first time cause I read it lasts longer but is it possible to do a French Mani and pedi?
You can totally do a French mani/pedi, mani is on the cheaper side a shellac pedi is a bit costly but waaaay worth it for vacay.

Understandable, I've encountered peeling in the 2-3 week period a couple times but never earlier than that (knock on wood).

Of course you can, and you have options too.

Base: Negligee (sheer pink with a subtle pearlescence), Clearly Pink (semi-sheer pink) or Romantique (opaque light pink, think of OPI bubble bath)

Tip: Studio White (bright white) or Cream Puff (natural/off-white)

My preference is Negligee or Clearly Pink as a base and Studio White on the tips; theyâ€re the most natural combo in my opinion.  I know many who prefer Romantique with Cream Puff, but this just seems so stark to me…probably a skin tone thing

This is so helpful.  I have a shellac appointment the Tuesday before my Saturday wedding and totally have forgotten to think about color.  Anyone have thoughts on either an all white color or red?   I am so not good with nail colors.

What's everyone doing for "Card Boxes"?  I don't want to lug a big box down there when I already have enough stuff to bring!  But then what are guests going to do with the cards they want to give you?  Anyone heard of collapsible card boxes that could be assembled down there?  Suggestions... please???  :-)

We are not using a traditional "card box" but we picked up, from michaels, one of those decorative boxes that look like an old book. We only have 28 guests so we are not expecting alot of cards so it was cute and fairly small. We can also put alot of our paper goods like menus and programs inside of it for packing to keep them from getting wrecked and it's something we can use after the wedding as well as ours just looks like its an old book of maps or something and fits with our vintage theme

My friend lent me a collapsable card box that she has used at a few weddings. She's a wedding planner. I believe she got it at Michaels. It's just a cardboard white box that pops up into a fancy one.

Do you have a favorite genre of music? Who are some of your favorite bands? That's a good place to start and I'm sure we can make a few suggestions. Or maybe something specific about your relationship that you can say that will remind us of a song that has a similar love story.
