Congrats and welcome!! You will love it here.

Ok also just realized I used "dude" in my last post. So sorry... It's a very VA/east coast thing to say and looks and sounds ridiculous lol ..

I always thought that was a west coast thing. lol I am from california and find myself saying that a lot too :)

You are right, orchids are not cheap, but I am only getting married one time and I envision orchids EVERYWHERE! lol  My color palate is based on two of my favorite types of orchids:

The orange cymbidium orchid

700

Purple Dendrobium orchids:

700

Dude I seen the cutest burlap and starfish napkin rings on some ones planning thread here onBDW, I'll try to track down who it was. But she just used PVC pipe cut to little lengths... And just glue gunned the burlap on. Super cute and easy, plus we have a on of PVC in the garage. But I wanna do like fish net ones...

This is super cute!!!!! I love that idea.. fits well with my burlap theme

I was also inspired by my favorite flower - Green Cymbidium Orchid - hence my color scheme of chartreuse and sangria.

No not really. Most people find it kinda of tacky but its a manitoba tradition and if you dont have one people go crazy asking why you dont have one. But heres the basics... You rent a hall usually for 300-600 people (depending on the size of your family and how many people you think you can get to attend) you get a liquor permit adn alcohol enought for the amount of people you expect to attend. Then usually close friends and family and business donate prizes for a silent auction. Then you sell tickets usually $10 a ticket to friends and family and everyone you know, and they sell to everyone they know.. till you sell as many tickets as your hall holds. It like a fundraiser to celebrate the couple getting married. Like i said most people find it tacky.. but where im from theres socials practiacally every weekend and sometimes they are not just for weddings... i have been to socials for everything from fundraisers for pet shelters... lawyers fees... even to help to guys backpack europe! lol. Really its just a good excuse to party... drinks are cheap $2.50 or $3.00 (cheaper than any bar) theres free food and prizes to be won.
