hello everyone on this thread! i'm a newbie :)

live in nyc and thinking TCI for destination wedding.

is anyone planning/has planned a wedding with a size of 80-100 guests?

starting to do a little research on venues and it's daunting as it seems like this is considered a "large wedding" for the island!!

any recos on venue locations? do all resorts require room blocks just to have ceremony and/or reception dins on their property??

thanks ;)

My feeling is that when you're in the sun all day you tend to be colder at night so it may not seem as hot. What are the temps in August? We're from Oregon and LOVE our bonfires so it kind of has some meaning to us. Plus I think the smores are a fun twist on a wedding cake for a non traditional wedding like ours. I think either way you go, it'll be great!

It is hot in August, (especially compared to the NW United States).  I doubt you will need long sleeves or pants.  You will usually have a breeze  normally in the evening and sunburned bodies will feel cooler than normal.

Even though it won't be "chilly", I do think there is something magical about a bonfire on the beach no matter what time of year.   And Kissing Fish does a great bonfire!  The other upside is that the water will be lovely that time of year if you want to put your feet in.   The other great thing about Grace Bay is that there isn't a lot of "light pollution" on the beach, you can really see the stars and enjoy!  I love the idea of Smores!

We are getting married at Bay Bistro and I love the idea of the lanterns. I found the paper laterns online, but what do you do about lights? Just bring a string of regular white outdoor lights?  Thank you!!
You can buy paper lantern lights on the Internet but they are a little speedy. We are going to make our own. I can't remember what they are called but look pretty easy to make and are much cheaper. Ill look around and post the link tomorrow if I can remember!

CdnyNYC - I have lantern lights for sale. I bought them because we had paper lanterns for our engagement party and when I traveled home, I forgot them here in NYC. They were never used, but I thought I would share! Let me know if you're interested or have any other questions. Ladies we are thinking about hosting a welcome dinner at Kissing Fish since we have quite a few guests not staying at our resort. We are getting married at Beaches, does anyone know what the distance is from Beaches to the local restaurants? If the cab rides are as expensive as they seem, I may need to come up with an alternative. Can anyone help?

Hi everyone!

My husband and I got married on the beach at The Regent Palms on March 2.  It was absolutely amazing as was the entire weekend. Here is a shot of us right after we were pronounced husband and wife.  I cannot say enough about the staff at The Regent Palms.  They were so kind and made sure that every detail was absolutely perfect.

You can walk from Beaches to Bay Bistro...about 15-20 minutes casual walk.  Resorts that are in between in order: Beaches, then Veranda (new Key West Village at Beaches under development), Alexandria, Regent Palms, Sommerset and then Bay Bistro.  I don't know where everyone else is staying but it's certainly walkable for you.

Thank you Krys, That helps a lot! We are working on the budget again now, we both work for the government and with all of the budget issues we have to make some adjustments. Of course I feel like it's a conspiracy against me. Anyway, that really helps and I appreciate you providing some perspective on the distance. Kisha
