Hotel Marina El Cid BRIDES

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! I'm now to this site but I'm actually visiting Mexico and yesterday I did a site inspection at the El Cid among other resorts. The wedding site location is all I ever dreamed of. So private and intimate. We also visited the Royal and I absolutely hated all the blue chairs on site. We are very close to picking out site. Our only concern about el CID is that they only have one pool. Has anyone noticed if they have additional bars? We are concerned our guests might be a little bored. Any thoughts? Good luck to all!

Hi Avborges!

Can I ask which location you liked for the wedding and the reasons behind you liking it?

How is the beach there, did it seem rocky?

The El Cid is one of the resorts on my list...

Hope the rest of your trip is fantastic!

Hi Dina, I loved the El Cid. First, you walk in to a beautiful air conditioned lobby with a beautiful bar you can use to have a welcome cocktail party. The rooms were great.. Some Are 2 and 3 bedroom suites. What I loved the most was the beach. The wedding site is off to the side and there are no ugly beach chairs or curious people sunbathing next to your ceremony. You have a lot of sand to actually have your reception there. One advice I got from my travel agent who is the liaison was to offer guests only the platinum rooms. They are only a few bucks more expensive and a minimum of 10 rooms will get a free wedding (max 30 guests, have to check). The ocean was very quiet. No waves. The WC told us some of the alges were there because of recent rain. I didn't mind. Didnt see any rocks but noticed lots of couples snorkeling in the calm waters. they have a nice reef off shore. El CID also has lots of trees so this wonderful breeze kept us really comfortable during the tour. If you send me your email, I can share the resort pics once I get home and upload the pics to my pc. Good luck!

Hi everyone! Congrats on your engagement! My fiancé and I have also decided to get married here and have just begun the planning process. The hotel looks beautiful and i have read so many great reviews of weddings at this hotel!! Our wedding date will be on either July 3 or 4. :). I am from Kelowna but now live in Toronto with my fiance. I have a couple of questions: - I would love if gildner would please send me pics of the centerpieces - does anyone have a more detailed document with the wedding extras (example: private dinner, dj, dance floor, etc.) and the associated cost? - avborges - would you please send me the pics? [email protected] Thanks so much!

To all the ladies, where are you planning to get your hair and makeup done?

Also, who is your photographer?

Also, I have just received our contract and hope to sign it soon.  If anyone needs, I have just received an email with bouquets, corsages and boutonnieres.  Please email me if you need it:  [email protected].

Happy planning!

Amanda

Hi ladies! I'm happy to have found this thread - we are planning on booking Feb 27, 2013 (not leaving us much time I know, its just what works best for us and our familes).  I just sent Deyanira back the form about our preferences for the wedding - she said that this is what I need to "book" the date?  We still have lots of questions at this point as far as ceremony/reception locations costs etc. But are really hoping to keep it very laid back and not worry about all of the little details - from what I've read about Deyanira she is fantastic and I am looking forward to working with her!  For those of you who have booked already do you have any suggestions?

At this point we are not working through a travel agent - we are just north of Calgary, Alberta and have found prices through expedia or through CAA/AMA with westjet to be much better than through a TA.  I have contacted the hotel and they have lots of rooms available so I'm not too worried - we are sending out hotel/booking info to our guests tonight, with the suggestion that they get on it asap.

Could those of you above with info about flowers/centerpieces/ dance floor rentals etc please send me the info?  [email protected]

Thanks so much!

Hi ladies,

I do have a copy of the lights/sound pricelist if anyone would like a copy they can email me at [email protected]

What we have learned so far:  You can hold your reception at one of the a la carte restaurants at the resort - the WC indicated that the cost of the meal at one of the restaurants is included? Not certain if this is for all guests that are staying at the resort or if she means the 10 people included in the wedding package.  Cost per person outside of the package on the beach is $70 for a 3 course meal, $80 for a 4 course meal.  At the a la carte it isn't a private function and she recommended having everything privately on the beach.

She indicated that we can customize the package that we choose, as I am planning on making my own brooch bouquet, and we are bringing our own photographer - I did mention this but she didn't comment if there are additional fees?  Does anyone know their policy on outside photographers?

I found that she wasn't responding to my emails at first - then we connected briefly via skype, and now we email back and forth daily - I'll ask some questions and then I'll get an email back the next morning - so this is going well based on what I've read!

Lastly - I also have a link to a lot of pictures of the resort/weddings/restaurants/etc that she sent me that you are welcome to request from me - just send me your email and I will forward it on!

Hi Julie,

El Cid charges $100 outside-vendor fee to use a different photographer.  However, if your photographer is also a guest at the resort, this fee is waived.

Also, if you and all your guests stayed a combined 30 nights in a Platinum room, the $70/$80 meals are free - regardless of the number of guest... and it would also include your guests not staying in platinum rooms.
