Tammy's DIY Planning Thread - at least 20 items, pic heavy & detailed!

Recommended Posts

I apologize for the big space between this post and my last one! My intention was to pump out my whole thread at once --- life had other plans! Anywho... moving on... :)

Boarding Passes & Luggage Tags

I sent these out about two months before our Wedding Day. Our guests were so excited to get them! I think it helped answer some of their questions too, especially those that don't travel frequently (and those that have never been out of the U.S.!).

These took me a long time to design in Microsoft Word, using Paint. Thank you for the many ladies that sent me their templates of boarding passes, boarding pass jackets, and luggage tags (especially Coconoir & Jamie5280)!! I absolutely loved mine. I hope they inspire you!

Front BP Jacket.jpg

I found the world traveller stamp at Michael's and the antique map paper in the scrapbooking section at Joann's.  The tags were leftover from our invitations (Office Max shipping tags).

The glitter is martha stewart glitter pens (highly recommend).  The starfish and words were done from my printer first.

I printed these on beach sand paper from the scrapbooking section at Hobby Lobby.  Fonts: Title - Treasure Map Deadhand; Rest - Caslon Antique Italic.  I also used a Martha Stewart glue pen & glitter to dot the lines that mark the "perforations."

BP Fanned Out.jpg

A lot of the info they already knew from our website.  But I highlighted important things they may have missed in here plus added things like a Packing Checklist, Wedding Itinerary, etc.

For couples, I gave them one of each of the designs.  I bought the Luggage Tags at Michael's in the wedding favor section.  (Note - NEVER pay full price at Michael's, Joann's, or Hobby Lobby!  They always have some sort of coupon going on which you can get from their website, mailings, even an app on your smartphone.  Hobby Lobby's wedding section has 50% off sales for about a week of every month.)

Passport Welcome Booklets

Okay, out of all of the DIY madness I did, these are what I was most excited about.  I'm obsessed with Passports and stamps!  If I travel somewhere, and they don't give me a stamp, I'm uber-disappointed!!

These took an amazing amount of time to design.  I actually bought stamps from various craft stores that looked like stamp borders, bought brown and teal ink (I highly recommend VersaMagic Dew Drop Ink), stamped them all in different colors, scanned them at FedEx Office, and then made them into separate jpg images on my computer.  The pages were printed on thicker paper from Hobby Lobby's scrapbooking section ---- double sided.  I had to plan out the pages since they don't print in order.  ****THANK YOU to Beck, who posted a planning page on here for welcome booklets! That was a really useful tool in helping plan this whole project!!  I believe I also got the puzzles and spanish sections from her as well.****

I'm super happy how they turned out, and our guests seemed to love them too!  I'm not posting all of the pages on here since there are so many, but I hope this gives you a good idea.

Welc book cover twined.jpg

I printed the words and starfish from the computer.  Then, I used my silver shimmery pen from Joann's that's permanent to go over the word Passport.  The twine used here and seen in other projects is from Michael's.  I cut the corners using a small corner rounder punch I bought from Hobby Lobby.  I was able to staple the books together using an extended stapler I bought at Office Max.

Thank you to the many brides who gave such wonderful wording in your welcome letters!  Mine is a mixture of the beautiful words I saw from many letters here on BDW.

Welc book facebook.jpg

There were 3 other pages of our guests, but you get the idea.  The shells and Beach wording are from different stickers I found at craft stores (which I scanned at FedEx Office as well, and created into jpgs), and the actual passport stamp-looking ones are from stamps I found at Michael's.

Welc book map.jpg

I believe I found the map of our resort on the official resort website.  I didn't think this map was something they'd actually use, but I think it was helpful to give an idea of what the resort offered, so they could make the best of it.

welc book restaurants.jpg

I personally really enjoyed this section of our own book!  I checked off the restaurants we visited as if we were in Disneyland, LOL, wanting to ride all of the rides!  I also like how it says what the "dress code" is, which is something that Moon Palace didn't offer in its info to new guests.

welc book resort credit.jpg

Moon Palace offers Resort Credit for its guests depending upon the length of their stay, so I thought it important to highlight this so guests got the most of them.

welc book spanish.jpg

I'm not sure whether people used this or not, but they thought the phrases on page 20 were hilarious!!  Thanks, Beck!

These were fun to do!  Thanks again, Beck.

OOT Bags & Contents

By the way, OOT = Out of Town.  This took me a while to understand on here!  (Also, btw, FI = Fiance... haha, that also took me a while!  I'm blonde! wink.gif)

Guests LOVED these!  I think I saw pretty much all of them using them around the resort!  One of my guests actually took it with her to a business meeting in town to hold her things!  They also said it was easier to recognize who was in the wedding group because of them.

Thanks again to all of the amazing OOT bags and contents I saw on here!  You ladies are all so inspiring!

OOT bag picture.jpg

OK, so with these babies, I designed the image for the bags and screenprinted them on the bags.  The bags were from cheaptotes.com and were the natural ones.  (They actually sent me the wrong order, but they were really good about the whole thing, and I got my bags in good time).  I bought screenprinting paper from Joann's, and I'm not sure whether it was the paper or how I was ironing them, but it seemed like only half of the bags I did turned out well.  I would recommend buying really good quality screenpaper and/or buying plenty of bags in case things go wrong.

OOT bag tag.jpg

The rough burlap was from Hobby Lobby (sold in these small rectangles), and the canvas tags were also sold in small rectangles right by the burlap ones (I believe they're labeled as "Trading Cards").  I cut the canvas tags to the shape of shipping tags (which are a nuance carried throughout our wedding).  Glued them both together with a glue gun.  The lettering were stamps from Hobby Lobby using the VersaMagic ink (which is ok for fabric).  I made holes with my Crop-A-Dile Big Bite Punch I bought at Michael's ----- LOVE THIS GADGET!   The charms were from Hobby Lobby.  (The word charms come in a pack of 12 from the scrapbooking section - Jim Holtz designs - LOVE his stuff!!)

OOT Bag flash contents below.jpg

Bag, Oh Sh*t Kit, Underwater Camera, Door Hanger, Welcome Book, Playing Cards, Postcard Notes (for our guest book time capsule), and Tip & Key Holder Wristlet.

Guests seemed to use everything here except the door hangers.  I'm not sure about the playing cards.  The playing cards are from Oriental Trading Co.  I found the playing card template on here somewhere (use the search engine), and modified it for our colors.  I just printed them on regular printer paper and then used double sided tape to attach them on each side of the card box.  I bought the underwater cameras from www.ecamerafilms.com - $4.50 each.  The door hanger template was also found on here, and I used a circle punch from Michael's.  I also used a very small circle punch from Hobby Lobby to make the holes around the hanger in order to thread the twine through.

Oh Sht Kit Pic.jpg

One sunscreen & Blistex per guest, 2 pepto bismols, 2 advil packets, bandaids, and a hangover recipe.

I bought the sunscreen and blistex from Walmart.  The pepto and advil were from amazon.

I made the label thingy from lots of great ones I saw on here!  The shipping tag is a stamp I bought from Michael's and scanned at FedEx Office and made into a jpg.  I put everything in a ziplock bag, and stapled the label thingy on top.  I actually did this all before the flight, and they all arrived in perfect condition.

Here's a template for the hangover recipe:

Key Holder.jpg

I saw guests using these all the time, too.  I know I had mine all the time and loved it.  The stretchy wristlet is from Oriental Trading Co., and they come in multiple colors.  The sleeves are from specialistID.com.  I printed the inserts on scrapbook paper I bought at Hobby Lobby.  Thanks again to all of the ladies that posted templates of this on here!

Hi Josie!

Thank you for the kind words!  I actually am contemplating opening my own destination design shop for passport booklets, etc.  So, I actually won't be posting or sharing any templates.  I hope that if you decide to make your own that this thread helps you!  I'm definitely willing to answer questions and help how I can.

Happy Planning!

Tammy
