***TULUM BRIDES 2012-2013***

Recommended Posts

Congrats PamelaVan!  We are getting married at Las Ranitas in February 2013, and would love any tips you could share as well!  We love  Angelina -- she was really the strongest argument for going with Las Ranitas.  We let her know all the details we wanted, but we are trusting her to select the florist, hair/makeup assistance, soloist, mariachi, etc.  We picked our own photographer (del Sol) and DJ (Doremixx).

One thing I would love is recommendations for a place to host a welcome cocktail party the night before the wedding.  Our issue is that we are expecting 160 guests, so it's hard to find a venue that can accommodate such a large group.  Please let me know if you have ideas!

Well ladies...you are in for a real treat, as Las ranitas is amazing!! Wow...Kate 160 guests...sheesh..That is one big destination wedding. Well I would check at Cabanas Tulum...or la Zebra for the cocktail party. They are both great...

Back to My wedding..

Well I planned everything myself, as I am super picky and controlling ( yes, I admit it) so wanted to hand select everything. When I booked Las Ranitas, I was set up to work with Abby, who ended up moving out of Mexico a couple months before the wedding. At that time I was placed in contact with Angelina to follow out my wedding. This was not a huge deal, as I had planned everything myself. Angelina was great and carried out all gazillion of my request and instructions perfectly. I loved everything about my wedding Las ranitas was the perfect place. I had never been there until a few days before my wedding, and as soon as I walked in...I knew it was the right place. I later visited some of the other venues I had looked in to....and it only reconfirmed I made the right choice. I will say the beach area of Tulum, is all fantastic...yet Las Ranitas is a special place.  I am not sure about all the vendors she selected for you, but Angelina does great work and I would be confident she wont let you down. The DJ is the best in the area..they were already booked by the time I found them...boo. But the reviews are the best..and many planners in the area suggest them. If anyone needs a florist...Cherry Blossom is the BEST!! I was in contact with Vanessa jaimes, Marvin, another local flroist, Euphoria...yet Cherry blossom was the only one who totally encompassed my concept....( well Vanessa could have but WAY over my budget) for 1/3rd of the price as the others.  I could not recommend her enough..she really carried out my vision. I will create a detailed blog and review as soon as I get my professional photos back...if you have any other questions let me know..I would love to help. I am very excited for you future las ranitas brides out there....my day was so special and prefect, I can't wait for more people to experience that!! Happy Planning!

Hi Kate,

We're in the same boat! Las Ranitas (this November), del Sol, expecting approximately 150 guests! Angelina is also helping us look for a welcome party venue, so I'll share once we find something. You may want to check out Mestizo; they can definitely accommodate your party size, had a fairly priced menu, and will not charge a site fee ($3000 USD) if you book at least eight rooms there. We unfortunately couldn't guarantee the eight rooms, so are continuing our search!

Essandpea, so glad to head you are also having a big wedding at Las Ranitas!  Let me know how you end up arranging the tables & dance floor -- I think with all the different levels/terraces in the restaurant, there are a lot of options for fitting everyone comfortably.  And I can't wait to hear how the chef does with a group of that size -- our tasting was SO good, we really hope the food on the night of the wedding measures up.  Also, where are you doing your cocktail hour?  We are planning to do it around the pool, but I am worried about there being enough space, and also wonder if there is space to set up more than one bar.  I hate long lines for drinks.

Good luck planning everyone, and congratulations again, PamelaVan!

Hi Kate,

I'll definitely share what we come up with with regards to set-up! Angie has recommended the pool area for the cocktail hour, but PamelaVan said she had her cocktail hour on the beach with live entertainment, so both are options. I hear you on the long lines for drinks :-). I'll know more in the next month or so, as we're still discussing what kinds of tables, highboys, chairs, etc., we'll need to supplement what Las Ranitas has available.

Also, we just got a quote from OM Tulum as a potential welcome party location. Our coordinator says it's cozy but definitely enough space.

More to come!

Hi! I am new to this board and have found it incredibly helpful! I am also planning my wedding in Tulum for 2013! Wondering what type of set up some of you brides have done for your guests? I am expecting about 90 guests and other than Dreams, there is not a hotel that can accommodate everyone. I LOVE Las Ranitas and for those of you having your wedding there--what hotel did you select for your spill over guests?

Thanks so much!

Hi isabellef,

Yay, another potential Ranitas wedding! Congratulations :-).

We're expecting 125-150 guests, and for spillover, our coordinator recommended: La Zebra, Ahau (formerly Esmeralda K), Coco, Mestizo, Ana y Jose, Om, Casa Violeta, Dos Ceibas, Playa Azul, El Pez, and Casa de las Olas. From those, we narrowed it down to the first four to provide our guests a range of price points (but ensuring 24-hour electricity). But don't feel limited at all; there are SO many hotels dotting the beach along Boca Paila Road. We also have guests renting private homes and a couple who are staying at Dreams because they wanted the all-inclusive experience.

Hope this helps!
