tamarack
Hello Ladies! I have been in contact with Pilar and from the information she sent me it looks like DJ time is included in the Divine wedding package! She said the package included 20-40 min at ceremony, 1hour at cocktails, and 3 hour at reception. Anything over that time is $250 an hour. I am soooo happy to hear this as I thought we needed to pay an additional $1000 for 4 hours of DJ time. Hope this is as great news to you as it was to me. I might just have a difficult family though , all of my extended family thinks they're going to wait until 2 wks out and try and book last-minute. We are struggling with that, because we want to implement a hard deadline much earlier than that- I have already started buying stuff, and would like to do as much as I can in advance, so the stragglers are frustrating. That's a whole other post, don't get me started! When we originally sent out the STD (Facebook and email), we got a lot of positive response- we did this in January, and when deposits were due in April, and push came to shove, hardly anyone jumped on board. Which is fine w/ me, I would rather have it be more intimate... We did have the same problem at first.. We were lucky that at least half if not more of the people booked through our TA. We did also set a deadline which was October 15 - about 3 months from our wedding. We just told the guests that we had to give a final headcount to the resort. Luckily most of our guests have booked at this point. We still have 1-2 parties to follow up with but for the most part eveyone was pretty understanding, I think there will be some people that decided to jump on it last minute but for the most part we have let people know that this is not acceptable as we have lots of plannng. I think as long as you make that part pretty clear to your guests will not want to inconvenience you or your FI. I will hopefully have all of the answers and RSVP's by the end of the week. Best of luck!

Our date is April 24 2012, and all she sent me was the planning forms. I would love for the DJ to be included. Let me know where you read that. Tamara I'm also curious to know where the info about the DJ came from... Also, $250 per hour extra? I thought it was $15 per person?

From what I understand once you exceed the 25 people the cost goes up dramatically. And I am also wondering if there are taxes on the divine wedding package..at 26% that can add up.Thanks goodness for this forum!! AT least us brides can help each other out:) Tamara I sent you the invoice, you'll see $50pp for anyone over the 25- and that's just for the meal! I also was hoping for a smaller group but my FI has too many friends. LOL!

It seems like a destination wedding is so easy to plan, but in reality it's seemingly more difficult. There's a lot of things you have to leave in the hands of people you've never met. I'm not going through a travel company or wedding planner (aside from the resort) so I can't relate to the frustrations there. My advice would be to relax as much as possible. Everything I have read from past brides was positive and while it sucks not having great communication, the closer your wedding day gets, the more frequent and helpful the communication will be. If you would feel better about contacting Pilar yourself, do just that. You're the bride, you have that right. Also, something else I've read hundreds of times on here - most of the planning will be done when you get there, which sounds completely dumb, I know. I saw one bride post that her wedding could have been planned in three days. Make sure you bring everything with you, pictures, lists, etc. so when you meet with Pilar you can give her everything and go over all the details. Your wedding is going to be amazing... for you, for your FI, and for all of your guests. I look forward to seeing your pictures! thank you , breanne!!! I thought it was $15 per person? Pilar told me differently also. I was told only 2 hours included in reception & each additional hour is $350! How are some ppl getting 3 hours plus cocktail & ceremony?

I know it's $53 pp extra for dinner, but I have decided not to do extra for cocktail hour... I've hear there should be enough food/drinks... We are canceling our dessert for dinner for 2 more o'dourves since its not needed since we will have the wedding cake, I hope that helps a little. What are your thoughts? Are u adding extra? $53 pp for dinner is pricy enough! Oh, I will be adding champagne at the end of the ceremony for $4 pp. Another thing, does anyone know if the package used to offer a complimentary room for the groom the night before the wedding? I thought I saw it in the past but it may have been a Dreams resort I'm thinking of.
