OFFICIAL NOW Jade Wedding Thread

I'm wondering about how pilar is going to respond to swapping things out with our pacakage also. I've heard she's pretty flexible but then there's those few reviews where she's not. I've yet to contact her about anything bc I figure if I just send one huge email when I have it all figured out, itd be best.

Yeah that is my plan also, I still have until November and I figure the less crazy bride I am the more she'll be willing to negotiate! I've been keepin a list of things I want to know that no one else has been able to answer for me.

I know this was asked not to long ago, but have any recent brides had any luck switching things out of their package for something else? I know it was pretty common place a couple years ago, but I haven't heard of recent brides having much luck. I haven't talked to Pilar, but I know there will be things we will not need from our wedding package, and that has be considering going with the Eternity package instead of the Divine.

Also, something else I was thinking about, we are only going to do a symbolic ceremony, but I don't want anyone to know that.  Will they make it all look legal if I ask, signature of the marriage license and everything? Does anyone have any experience with this?

It seems to be a thing of the past. I asked for two things at different times and was told no.

One thing I asked for was swapping the live music for 2 hours of DJ (which several people were able to do in the past) and was told no

The other thing I asked was if we could trade out our boutonnieres and corsages for a bridesmaid bouquet and was told that they don't do any swapping.

Both things I asked for were things able to do before and in the same categories (music and flowers). From what I was told, they don't have the flexibility to swap stuff like they used to..... so I have no clue what we will do with the stuff.

The corsages and boutonnieres, we get quite a few in the Divine package but are only having two ppl stand (a best man and MOH)

As for the music, we don't have a need for it. We want the DJ for reception and have already picked songs for the wedding..... I suppose we could have the live music play at the cocktail hour? Or potentially during dinner and then have the DJ for the rest of the reception? I have no clue, I guess we will have to crowbar them in somewhere since we are paying for it either way

Just tried to swap out photo package...I was very flexible and just wanted to trade for SOMETHING...she said absolutely nothing can be swapped...my travel agent even sent her screen shots of this site of previous brides saying she would! ...still no luck :/

Hmmm...that makes me wonder if we should just go with the eternity package and save ourselves 500 dollars then. Because there is enough I could live without that i would have liked to swap.

For those who have already had their wedding, I was just wondering what the ceremony was like. Is it in Spanish with an interpreter or did they have someone who spoke English? Also, did you get to meet the officiant before to give them details of you to make it personal? How long was the ceremony?

Also, do you choose the time of your ceremony? Mine is in April and I wasn't sure if I should do 4 or 5 pm.

Lastly, does anyone have prices for the rehearsal dinner and do you get to actually walk through the wedding with your party the night before?

So many questions!!

From what I've read, the officiant speaks English. But there is an accent and I've heard they can be hard to understand at times. I do believe you can personalize it too. As far as the ceremony time you choose, I would make sure to set a time that gives you enough good lighting for pictures. Check with your photographer on what they think. Also, look up what time the sun sets. Lastly, they do a quick walk through of the wedding the day before. I've heard people say it's about 15 minutes. Hope that helps!

Tell him that pictures are what you are going to have for the rest of your life!!!

That is honestly the most important thing with the whole wedding process!! I heard some good things about the resort photographer but I also read some not so good things, I would not like to jeopardize one of the most important details on the most important day! :D  The most advice I received from people is 'get a great photographer, those pictures are something you will look at for the rest of your life.'

I know! I preach this constantly.  The issue is I've been a stay-at-home mom for almost a year and haven't worked full time in a couple years because I've been completing my Masters, and that is done now, and i keep hoping I'll get a job so then I can just do whatever I want without his permission...but, no luck so far. My father is my last resort, but if i have too, i'm not too proud to beg :)

Im so excited I found this site! You lovely ladies are so helpful with all of your reviews!!

As of right now, Im looking for an outside photographer that can do the whole day for under $3000. Is that reasonable or should I stick with the resort photographer (just worried about the less than impressive reviews)

one post down, 149 to go  :P
