OFFICIAL NOW Jade Wedding Thread

Recommended Posts

We're back now in cold Canada. I'd like to put some thought in to my review before posting, so I'm going to start working on it and will post shortly.

Here's a few photos. We used the resort photographer for our cocktail hour only, so until our professional photos are ready, these are mostly shot by family/friends.

PAST BRIDES....

What did people do that had a large number of guests coming? The costs for extra people over 25 is crazy!

$70 per person for dinner

$7 per person for cake

$5 per person for Champaign toast

$20 per person for cocktail hour

That's over $100 extra you have to pay per person.

What other ideas did people do if you had between 50-75 guests?

It is crazy, and it adds up quickly. We had 14 extra adults for dinner and that alone was nearly $1000, plus $100 for 4 kids.

You definitely don't need any extra wedding cake. We had the cake for 25 people and we barely even put a dent in it.

One idea might be to cut down on the cocktail hour. For example, some brides have only opted to go with the cocktail food provided in the package (e.g. 25 people). Most people never eat up the amount of food allocated per person in the cocktail hour, so you could likely get away with providing a little less. I'm not sure if the NJ still allows you to do the above, but this might be one option (just make sure you don't go too bare bones and run out of food). You could also consider only having the champagne toast for you and the groom, and subbing in something cheaper for the guests. Lots of wedding experts suggest this as a way to cut down on costs:

Last, I've also read that you don't need to buy a cake that covers every single guest. See the link below for some ways to save:

I would NOT suggest cutting down the appetizers.  We paid for all of our 32 guests and they were all gone in less than 15-20 mins.  You do not really get all that much.

I know some brides at the Now Sapphire have used cocktail hour for their rehearsal dinner instead of the actual wedding.  That cuts out that extra $20/pp right there.

I would definitely not order more cake - we had 19 guests and most people didn't even eat it (me included - our dessert was amazing I didn't want cake!).  Ask to have the cake set up where guests can go and take a piece themselves - most wont!

Could someone tell me what the outside vendor fee is at Now Jade? We want to use an outside photographer and I need to update my budget to reflect the vendor fee :)

According to the wedding guide on their website:

Day Pass (9:00am-6:00pm) $65 per person
Night Pass (6:00pm-1:00am) $75 per person
Full Pass (9:00am-2:00am) $55 per person

I have been thinking about ways to get people together to have a game night or something fun before the wedding. I've already ruled out a private rehearsal dinner, as that will be too pricey. However, I thought it might be nice to rent out a room or suite to have a American night. Has anyone done something like this? How much was the cost?
