Now you've got me thinking about this. I originally was just going to choose one meal to make it easier on myself, but the more I think about it, the more I dislike the idea of picking what people eat. I definitely don't want to do assigned seating. So now I'm also thinking of creating place cards with guest names and entree selection. How are you going to let them know to pick up their placecard and choose a seat? Would you put a some sort of sign on the table stating that with all the placecards? Also, how are you going to make your placecards?

 

Also, when you send your invites are you sending RSVP cards? I wanted to just have everyone RSVP by email/website/phone because I hear so many stories of people not returning the cards. I'd hate to waste the money on them and not receive them back. However, since I now will be asking for their entree selection I am not sure if I have to do it. I imagine it would be tacky to put that directly on the invitation. Oh I just don't know! I'm the first of my friends to get married and I'm just sooo confused!

I havenâ€t given much thought to the design of the placecard but they will include the guest name and entrée selection.  As far as set-up I will have the placecards  arranged on a table and have some kind of signage directing guest with how to proceed with their seat selection.

 

I will include a  RSVP card with my invite - I have a few guest that are older and donâ€t use smart phones or have personal computers. However, my RSVP cards only request whether or not a guest(s) will be attending and I have a little blurb providing an option to RSVP through our wedding website and to choose their entrée selections. A bit redundant, but Iâ€m trying to make thing easy for my guests to RSVP by giving them options.  I care more about whether or not they are attending than what they want to eat. If a guest doesnâ€t select a preferred entree, than I will have a default option.

 

I still thinking all of this through, but this is what Iâ€ve come up with so far. Let me know what you think or if you come up with a more streamlined way to approach this.

I'll be thinking about it too and I'll let you know what I come up with. Thankfully we have some time but I have a feeling times going to go by fast! I do want to have maracas and thought about tying a name tag on each with the entree selection but I also want to have the cute saying about "shaking the maraca" and it's too much to have 2 tags on the maraca. Would it be too much to have names & entree on one side and the saying about shaking the maraca on the other side?

I like this idea! I think it will work just fine! You will have to have table numbers on each table though.  Instead of using a number we put a picture frame and a location my husband and I had traveled to together. We had a message in a bottle with each persons name and had a tag hanging off with the table location name....just an idea.

 

I did an rsvp card with 3 entrees to choose from and I also asked guests to list any allergies (some people are also vegetarian and gluten free which they have separate menus to choose from).  I had 45 guests at our wedding and almost everyone sent back an rsvp card even those who were not attending (but we did provide them with an envelope and return stamp).  I also had a website which no one rsvp to.
