What is the best approach for this scenario without accruing added cost from the resort? Do I just provide Pilar with quantities per entrée selection and create placecards with the guests name and entrée selection and direct them to choose a seat and place it on their plates? Is this acceptable? I'm open to suggestions.

I did this and I honestly can't remember how they figured out who got what. I gave everyone 3 options to choose from (filet and shrimp, pork tournadoes, and mahi mahi.) I sent Pilar our guest list and what put what everyone was ordering. I had a long table and we didn't have a seating chart...I'm not sure if they just asked who got what when the dinner came out or not. Haha sorry I'm not more helpful.

If there is no specific seating arrangement for the guests the servers will not know who gets what meal. For our seating I made messages in bottles with each of our guests name with the table number they will be sitting at as place cards.  But if you are only having one big table I am not sure how that works.

Thanks for the reply. Now I'm just more curious as to how this works, but I don't know if I want to just leave it to chance. I don't want to assume that it will go as smoothly for me as it did for you.

This is what i thought, I was just hoping that maybe there was an option that I wasn't thinking of. Thanks for the reply.

Good question - although short of having servers simply ask while they server the entrees I have no ideas!  Sorry, hopefully someone is more creative than me, I'd be interested to hear some ideas! I know people frequently colour code entree options - ie with menu card or napkin colour...but without assigned seating that wouldn't be much help either I guess.

What I did for my wedding was created the place cards with an indicator of the entree selection (different color border).  Guests were allowed to choose their seats, they just grabbed the place cards as they entered the reception and placed them where they wanted to sit.  It worked out very well.

When I met with Pilar on my site visit she was pretty insistent that I have assigned seating.  I didn't want to do it either, but she said I needed to give her a seating chart if I wanted to give my guests options. Hope this helps!

Hi Umi,

I was on my site visit for your wedding and caught a glimpse of the setup. I thought it turned out beautiful, even in the rain :-) You didn't assign everyone an actual seat, just table, right? Did they pick up their bottles and take them to their seat at the assigned table? Thanks!

I have just started planning my wedding for May 25th 2013 at the NOW Jade and have found this forum to be so helpful in my planning process!  We are going with the eternity package and are having our ceremony on the Pergola at 6pm, cocktail hour at the Blue Beach Bar at 7pm, and dinner at Castaways restaurant at 8pm.  My concerns with the wedding being so late in the evening is whether or not we will have privacy on the Pergola (I have heard some things from other brides about this location on the blog) as well as not having enough time to take pictures on the beach following the ceremony, as  I've heard the sun sets around 7:30pm.  Does anyone have any information regarding the Pergola at this time?  or has anyone else had there wedding at this time as well?  My other question was regarding outside vendors.  Me and my fiance have already booked an outside photographer and are also looking into getting our flowers from an offsite vendor as well.  I am going to ask Pilar if I can get free day passes for the photographer and their assistant since we are not using some of the items from our package.  Has anyone had any problems with this?

Thanks!

Lauren

Hi Serenity19,

I am in the process of booking my Wedding at now Jade for 6/22. I found an amazing photographer in Chicago, and have been searching for someone who is interested in spliting the cost of flying him down for the event. The photographer is Jimmy Fishbein http://www.jimmyfishbein.com/. MY FI and I met with him last week and his photos are AMAZING. Let me know if you are interested!!!

I am also contacting Del Sol for a price quote!
