I also would love to see pics of the resort photog, we're really struggling with whether we should hire someone from the outside....we've booked May 25, 2013 as our date, with the pergola, mix bar, and bamboo room- 34 people confirmed and paid, so we're getting really pumped!!!!!

I totally struggled with the same thing... Whether or not to hire an outside photographer or to use the resorts. Mlite83 you are correct on the photographer being adventure photo. I looked into them... All that comes with the package is one hour of photography and I think 30 photos. Anything else and you are paying an hourly rate not to mention the negatives are not included. The communication was good with them though. After considering this and also knowing that I wanted to look back on my photos and remember the day and all the details, the looks on people's faces that I had forgotten, the day unfolding as a story, I decided to book an outside photographer and after much research, ultimately decided on Del Sol (which recently merged with La Luna their sister company) and could not be happier. Based on other bride's feedback and comments, everyone who has used del Sol/La Luna feels they made the correct choice. I have yet to find a picture of theirs that I did not think was absolutely breathtaking! Best of luck with your decision!

I'm certain you will be happy with an outside photog (especially DelSol - they do amazing work!!!), I just wanted to mention too that you can purchase additional hours (for about $100/hr) and you have the option to purchase all images on a disk (for around $500)...this is what I have understood based on previous reviews by Now Jade brides.  My wedding is not until winter 2013 so I can't speak from experience tho

I definitely think you'll be really happy with an outside photographer.  I think the quality will be MUCH better.  And Del Sol is amazing!

Just got married at the Now Jade on 5/6/12. Everything was amazing! Will post my offical review and planning thread later this week.

 

Outside photographer.....I went with Photos in Cancun. Derek and Lorena were hands down the best decision I made. "Worth every penny" says my cheap a$$ husband Not only did we walk away with 2200 pictures but they also helped us through every part of the day. They helped us know how to cute the cake, make a time line for day, communicate with my hair dresser....they list goes on and on.

 

I used the resort photographer the night before for family pictures and they do a nice job as well. Sort of hard to communicate with and i didn't get a whole lot of say in my editing choices.

 

If I had to do it all over again and could only spluge in one area it would be the photography.

I had my wedding the now jade and my honeymoon at the now sapphire......in my mind now jade beats out the sapphire in every aspect. Not that the sapphire wasn't nice...it was. but the Jade is so much nicer and the wedding locations are not even comparable. the entire time we were at the sapphire my husband kept asking to go back to the Now Jade

1. the adults pool at jade is 18+ vs at sapphire its part of the preferred club, if guests don't upgrade i don't want them to not be allowed to hang out with the others

2. there appeared to be more options for locations (of ceremony and reception) at jade, plus i LOVED the pergola
