Is anyone doing a wedding gift registry?

Is anyone doing this? I initially was not since my sailing guests are already paying to cruise. So I did not "expect" any wedding gifts. Personally just coming to the wedding is enough for us. But my sister pointed there will still be non-sailing guests and some would like to give gifts. So what about you all? Are you doing a registry? Will it come off as rude?

This thread was REALLY useful regarding registries:

What I gathered is you have to have a registry for these reasons:

  • If you don't have a registry, what will people do if they can't make it?
  • Some people are very insistent about bringing *something*, even if they are coming.
  • To keep it simple, you can simply post it on our Web site, or have it be word-of-mouth. If folks ask, then tell them!

We are doing one!  In fact we just did our registry this past weekend.  I too wasn't going to do one at first because I wasn't expecting gifts - but there are still people who aren't going to make it that will want to buy you something, you might as well get something you need!  My future sister in law is also throwing me a shower so the registry will give people ideas for that too.
