Hi Suzanne,

Tips are included according to our love at first site visit. "If" you find that some of the staff did an amazing job for the wedding or worked hard during your stay you can add a little "something". I know that anything would be appreciated. My fiancé and I spoke about tipping and we usually tip our butler, the guys who hold our bags and our waiters during our vacation.  Last time we were disappointed with the room situation so we did not tip the cleaning staff.

Anyway, My fiancé and I said that we would tip the wedding planners up to anywhere from $40.00-100.00 depending on how the wedding turns out. We really do not want to add anything extra if we do not have to but definitely want to make sure they know we appreciate what they did.

Hey All,

Good morning!

How many days are you staying before and after your stay at PPR? My fiancé and I are trying to look at our days. I thought three days before and three days after but he wants to stay longer.

Is anyone staying at the reserve area or the royal service area?

We're staying in the Reserve. We did two days before because I want to have time to prep- but not too much time because I don't want to be a sunburned bloated bride and sun and alcohol too many days straight will do that to ya. We arrive on Wednesday and our wedding is Friday. We plan to party up on Wednesday but the day before to engage in low risk and low key activities lol. Then we return home the following Wednesday giving us 5 days after our wedding to enjoy.I think this was the smartest decision for us- and flights tend to be cheaper on Wednesdays.

We are leaving on Tuesday and getting married on Friday.  I was under the impression you had to be in the country two full days, not counting your wedding day, prior to your wedding...not sure if this is correct or not.  We are staying til the following Wed.... we were hoping to have a day before everyone arrived as well but  some family is coming before me even...and then about 11 of us on the same day and the rest over the next two days....

hope that helps...

I believe that only applies if you are having a legally binding ceremony in DR and not getting married in your hometown first.

Hello Ladies-

I'm new to the site and I'm in trying to decide on a resort, I am in between The Beach Palace Cancun and PPR. Anyone have pictures of the Olympic Terrace decorated? I really wanted the Gabi but it seems to be out of budget. I've been emailing with Lauren, and she has been okay. Im hopeful for a May 24th 2014 wedding but I already feel overwhelmed and pressed for time.

Like I said I wasn't sure I think it is for a legal ceremony... We are doing symbolic... Too much hassle for a legal lol! And I am a little worried about too much sun!!! I get a great tan but my face does tend to burn so I am planning to go easy in the sun in the days leading up!

Yea legal is too much of a hassle and we decided against Mexico because we read that you had to have bloodwork done and the same rule about being in the country three days before. We are doing the Church wedding which is enough of a hassle on its own. I had to scan and make copies of a ton of paperwork to email it only to get an email from the priest saying "we now require couples to fed ex their documents. It's too much work for us" and I had to pay $50 to Fed Ex it. LOVELY. There are so many little details that are a pain to deal with. I don't know how a Destination Wedding is any less stressful than a hometown wedding. If anything- there are more issues in terms of travel, carting everything over, etc. Right now my mother's passport is being held up because some ASS at the passport processing center said she didn't show sufficient proof of citizenship. She sent" her NYS ID, birth certificate, SS card, my birth certificate, my sisters birth certificates, a sworn affidavit from her fiance attesting to her identity. They asked for: a newspaper clipping with her photo and name (That's really funny- I told her to rob a bank so she can be in tomorrows paper), student ID (also funny), Military ID (she's non-military) or a U.S. Passport (ironic). We leave in 47 days!!!!!!!!

I've concluded that any wedding- regardless of size, locations, traditional or non- is stressful. The only answer is elopement- but then again- that's stressful bc in my family, I'd have some explaining to do lol
