2013 Paradisus Palma Real

Recommended Posts

From what I've read in many posts, the hotel has honored most past agreements on many things (pricing, entertainments, etc). I'm hopeful that they'll do the same for waving your fee for the DJ.  I definitely wouldn't say you're being a bridezilla just because you expect to get what you were promised.  That's just asking for a business to be reasonable :)

Hmmm i am having second thoughts about this dj now... I have started to compile a list of what i want to hear and do not want to hear. Also, ladies... one of my bridesmaids is actually going to a wedding there this week so I have tasked her togather info for me so I will relay all that to you!
Hello girls. I am new to this blog. It is great to hear everyone's comments and concerns. I was truly lost in this whole wedding destination planning. It feels good to have a support group and someone who knows exactly what you are experiencing. It's also nice to be able to get suggestions and recommendations from all of you. I am getting married July 2013... It's fast approaching. I have shared in all your frustrations with guests and self doubts but I do have to say that my experience with the Miami office has been great. I have been working with Jessica. Erica, I am really concerned about the DJ now. Thank you for that piece of information. I was really looking forward to DJ Mania after all the great reviews. Please keep us posted on your girlfriends reviews of the new DJ company. My wedding has gotten a lil crazy. I have. Very large family and thought that having a destination wedding would limit some of the cost...boy was I fooled! Overall I am happy that I chose PPR because of their great reputation. My travel Agent assured me it was a great choice. My travel agent is located in Brooklyn, NY if anyone is interested. I am having a welcome party in the beach the day before and having my ceremony on the beach, cocktail hour in Colonial and the reception in one of the Apollo rooms. Just want to say thank you girls for all your posts. Keep them coming. We will get through this together. I will do the same.

Thanks ladies! Luckily Mannia is agreeing to refund the money in the event that Paradisus refuses to waive the fee so worse case scenario is we are reinstated our deposit and will use the resort DJ. Best case scenario is they honor the contract and I get to keep them considering they were initially a vendor. Mannia informed me that the contract ended in January and they were told they would be charged an external fee but they did not know it was $1,000. Even they think its ridiculous lol

Ev, You are absolutely right!!! There should not be hidden fees or surprises... A contract is a contract and it is their responsibility to let you know... This is ridiculous. I hate how one minute you think things are going smooth and then we hear something else and it shakes things up... This creates anxiety for all of us!!! Regarding the DJ I met with aventos entertainment. The guy George seemed really nice but did not really speak English my fiancé had a difficult time communicating with him but as I mentioned before we will get our best man to take over.... They give you a sheet where you list the songs that you would like them to play. They make sure to have it ready for your day. it is not just carribbean music they play what you would like Them to play....

Hi Erica,

Congrats on your upcoming wedding!!!! I just set up my planning phone call for next month. I'm guessing that you've already had your call.. Any tips and/or advice for the call? If anyone else would like to chime in that would be great too ;)

Thanks!!!!

Hi ladies!

I am excited to be a part of this forum as a PPR bride! After months of searching for the right resort (originally we wanted Riviera Maya), we finally put a deposit down on PPR. It feels good to finally be moving forward with my planning and you all have been a huge help sharing your experiences. I've been talking to the Romance Office in Miami and wanted to ask if any of you have been charged taxes on any of your "wedding extras". I think they told me tax in DR is 18% which seems unusually high and wanted to check. Thanks!
