Just got engaged and am starting to research destination weddings. This site has been so helpful. Right now we are trying to determine the best time of year for our wedding, location, and budget. Our families and friends are scattered throughout the country, so we figured since people would have to travel, why not make it a vacation too!

Congratulations & welcome!

I have the exact same situation with family scattered around & we said the same thing "why not make a vacation out of it".  We figured, if they're going to have to travel here, pay for hotel, food, etc - might as well go to an all-inclusive on a tropical island:)

time of the year, for Mexico for example.

there are some point to take into account:

1. do you want a good weather. high season? low seasson?

2. best deals? do you mind that?

1. the best weather in Riviera Maya would be in February, March, I think the beaches are not full, and the weather is good, on the day you can go to the beach and at night you can user a light sweter.

April to August is high season, it is hot, hot, during day and night, but is the most popular time, during April and May everything is full of tourists.

2. best deals? I think if you want to take best deals, you can come in August or September, may be is matter of luck, you can get 50% of chances of raining.. .the weather is very nice, not hot at all, and you will get for sure a better deal for being low seasson. I would choose this time for my wedding in my personal opinion.

good luck with planning!
