Are some of your friends and family avoiding you since you mentioned a DW?

I have told people up front that unless they book through our TA or advise us when/how they are booked, I will assume you aren't going & there will not be a "seat at the table" for you. I got so sick of people b*tching about it that I never bring the wedding up around them. Some people have said they will book closer to the wedding date (trying to get last minute deals) so I explained that the hotel books up VERY quickly & they may not get a room. Also, I have to know by a certain date how many guests to make allowances for things like seating, oot bags, etc. it is extremely rude of them to think you can just squeeze them in at any time if they decide to go! Aaaaarrrhhhh

Yes...why why why do ppl think its better for us to wonder if they are coming, than to just say no. I'm thinking about doing electronic invites, with "pages" of info for wedding 411, RSVP, FAQ...maybe a better way to get RSVPs?

I'm really glad that I came across this thread. I'm lucky in that people aren't being flat out rude, but instead people just aren't talking about my wedding at all. I went out to visit my Dad's side of the family a couple weeks and ago and NO ONE asked me about the wedding, and it's in 4 months! The same goes for alot of our friends. We get together with them and there is absolutely no mention of the wedding. It's just odd. I have made every effort to let people know that I understand if they cannot come, but I just need to know one way or the other! Hang in there ladies, our weddings will be worth every headache that comes our way!

Hello girls, I have return home after a wonderful wedding. It has been so amazing that i forgot comoletely about that people avoiding us or those who didnt show any interest. We even had people that never answered to the invitations. But we didnt ask to them. If you are not even worry, why have we to do it? It has been odd but also hard to see and discover this things, but when you arrive to your destination, receive your guests and spend wonderful days with them, nothing else matters. Believe me!!

Hello ladies,

I think I'm the first one in our entire group (family/friends) to have a destination wedding and so I didn't think anyone else could relate, until I saw this! This has been a super stressful wedding planning and even though our wedding is in November for some reason I'm not as excited any longer. I have heard so many excuses from people. What really bothers me are the ones that tell you from the beginning that they will be going, and then as time goes you you start realizing that they have not booked. To top it off we are now hearing from those same "excited" people that it is way too expensive and that prices are getting worse three months before the wedding. This is why we told everyone 13 months in advance!!! Also, I made a website and sent out save the dates informing people that they should put a deposit with the travel agent to lock in the price. Now they want to complain how expensive it is getiing. I don't understand why people have to be so insensitive. I've even heard from some "friends" that they're wedding will not be that far/expensive. I don't really care! This is my day and I don't appreciate those types of comments. When I texted people asking if they are coming to the wedding, I just get ignored. I can understand all the family that has kids. I don't expect them to dish out so much money, but all the "single" people/friends. There is no excuse. We are obviously not worth it.
