Iberostar Laguna Azul brides 2013

Hello,

 

My fiance and I have choosen the ILA to get married at in April 2013.  I am having a hard time finding recent posts from brides who may have been there within the past year .....just wondering if anyone has any info or pics or advice??  We are having approx 40 people attend and I have only ever been to Jamaica once, so I am not an avid traveller.  If anyone wants to chat or has any info I woujld really appreciate it!!

Ok well I can't quite help you yet! Congrats on getting engaged, my fiance and I are also getting married at the Iberostar Laguna Azul this August, 2012. We have about 60 ppl attending so I will take notes on things you will need to know and do. I will take pictures for you as well and I will get names of good contacts to have or avoid haha. I know picking a resort can sometimes be overwhelming just not knowing what you will get. Hope you got a good price on the resort, I do know of ppl who have been here recently and rave that it is by far the best resort in Cuba, even said the food is good for Cuban standards. If you have never been to Cuba, just note the food is sub par, its edible but not the greatest. Buffett is the way to go so you can pick and choose what to try. I am thinking of having my wedding at Laguna Azul in April, 2013. I have emailed them but it takes weeks for them to get back to me which is making me a bit nervous. Has anyone else had any better luck?

 

I have also been warned to be very careful about which wedding ceremony you choose from a friend who attended a wedding there. I am yet to get any info from the resort on the different wedding packages so if anyone knows what they entail please let me know!!

@ Heathereve, I am attaching the packages that were emailed to me from the wedding co-ordinator at Laguna Azul. By looking at these three packages it seems only one is applicable to an actual wedding. One is called wedding show?? and does not include any legal documents, one is a Canadian/Cuban wedding with everything you would need for $800 and the third is just a renewal of vows package.   It really is hard choosing the resort, it was making me a little crazy for a while, but I read really good things about the Laguna Azul and I know some people who just came back from a wedding there and said it was one of the best trips they have ever had and they travel A LOT, so I'm comfortable that it will offer everything I want.

 

The rate we got was just over 1200.00 per person, I'm not sure if thats good or not but we're going may 4th, 2013 and we wanted to stay within 1500.00 per person, so that was under our budget and we are happy.

 

What are your ideas for decorations?  I am doing a coral/pink/light grey and white with little hints of light purple and teal.  Not sure what theme yet, but I'm terrible with decisions, so I'll need the help of some of my 9 bridesmaids lol.

 

Have you had any family drama?  We have had a lot of flack from family regarding our decision to have a DW and just found out due to taking nitroglycerine patches my dad will be unable to come to as well, he has a pacemaker for his heart and no one will insure him to fly, so there's a lot of stuff goin on, but we've decided to push ahead and have a ceremony here before we leave, which is also beneficial regarding the paperwork that we would have had to deal with.

I have also booked my wedding for April 2013, the 5th to be exact. I have had a hard time getting replies to emails and when they do reply they do not answer any questions. My travel agent keeps telling me not to worry as the time gets closer to my date they will pay more attention to my emails.....

 

Has anyone been recently to a wedding or has received answers to my questions, please help?

 

I have a ton of questions about the photographer, can u get themt o do pics of before the ceromony?, do they put all pics on a cd? Can you get them to stay for the reception?

 

Questions about the meals,

 

Does anyone have the menus?

Does anyone know what a GALA dinner means?

How was the dinner and reception on the beach? was it too windy or lots of bugs at night?

Can you rent the restaurants then the disco and how is it per/person?

I am also booked to get married in April 2013, on the 5th. I ahve had terrible luck with responses from Giselle and lisett as well and when they do answer they do not answer your questions, they just send the same info.

My travel agent says to not worry and that I will get better responses closer to teh date when my wedding becomes a priority, just makes it ahrd for planning purposes.

 

I have some questions and am looking for answers from Brides or previous guests

 

Photographer- were they any good? Can you get them to take pics of the bridal party getting ready? Does he give you the CD with everything on it? approx how long does all of this cost and can you get reception photos as well? Is it best to go off the resort for photos?

 

Dinner reception- wanted to do the Italian for the dinner, there will be approx 20 of us, how much to do it private? and how much is it to rent the disco after dinner to do the dances and have a few drinks? What is a gala dinner?

 

Wedding setup- most people seem to get married on the spa terrace, is the beach very windy?

 

 

Does anyone have pictures of the beach party option? and menus for the restaurants?

you should definitely check out the facebook page for Iberostar Laguna Azul brides it has been such a big help in my planning for this wedding, it's unreal.  You will get all the answers to your questions answered on the facebook page.  Just go onto fb and look up iberostar laguna azul page and join.

 

Trust me you'll thank me later lol.

Hello Everyone,

My name is Yana and I am also planning a wedding for 2013 in Cuba. I have not booked yet, but leaning towards the ILA based on the great reviews and the beautiful ceremony location that they have! I am currently thinking first week of April

 

Very excited to see photos and get some reviews on the weddings that are coming up.

 

Cubabride 2013, I did find some stuff about the photographer. Not alot, but read some really good reviews and I am pretty sure this is the guy that is offered through the resort. Also, he has a facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Cuban-Wedding-photographer-and-videographer/205619149526632  where there are pics from a wedding he did at ILA. This is not confirmed, but I did read some posts where the brides have said that the photographers don't do pictures at the reception, so you might want to check on that..and let me know too!

Hi girls,

 

I am going crazy about choosing a wedding destination!  I have also had much family drama, and wish to get something finalized!  I am leaning towards the Laguna Azul as well for end of March 2013, but have read many mixed reviews on Trip Advisor.  I also do not know many details about wedding packages-wondering if there is a pool side reception? 

 

I am also waiting to get accepted on the FB page- Laguna Azul Brides.

 

Any advice about choosing this resort for sure?
